AC Milan’s fortunes have dramatically transformed in the space of one year, with Massimiliano Allegri establishing a very competitive team.
Under Allegri, Milan have made big strides forward compared to 2024-25, which will go down as a nightmare season in which Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao both failed to engineer a run towards the European spots.
Allegri vs. Fonseca vs. Conceicao: The comparison
As MilanPress report, with Allegri on the bench the Rossoneri have collected 31 points in 14 league games thanks to 9 wins, 4 draws, and 1 defeat, with 22 goals scored and only 11 conceded. These numbers are completely different from last season, but not just when comparing the first 14 matches.
With 31 points obtained after 14 games, and therefore with 5 games left to play (Sassuolo, Como, Verona, Cagliari and Genoa) to conclude the first half of the season, Milan are already +1 point compared to what they were at the midway point of the last campaign.
After 19 league games in 2024-25, Milan had recorded just 30 points. It would end up sewing the seeds for a disappointing campaign and an eighth-placed finish, with dropped points against the likes of Torino, Parma, Lazio, Fiorentina, Napoli, Cagliari and Genoa.
In the end Fonseca would not see out the 2024 calendar year and would be replaced by Sergio Conceicao, who did not exactly do much better.

Conceicao’s numbers were Top 4 level though, Just going by the second half of last season alone.
The major damage was done by Fonseca, and not even the second guy could perform miracles.
I don’t think that’s correct. I recall Conceicao’s points per game being the same or marginally worse.
That might have been across all comps and not just the league.
You can take a look at the stats on Transfermarkt. Conceicao was ranked in 4th place in Serie A for points collected in the second half of last season.
Fonseca was the main culprit of our downfall by having us in 9th by the time that he left.
Conceicao could only fix so much, and the points he picked up from January 1st would have had us in 4th place if the league started when he was appointed.
According to Transfermarkt.
Conceicao was AC Milan manager for 31 games. PPM = 1.71 (across all comps)
Fonseca was manager for 24 games. PPM 1.75 (across all comps).
Struggling to see how that is better.
Conceicao’s numbers were better in Serie A but Fonseca’s numbers in the UCL were significantly better.
In serie a exclusively. Fonseca was 1.5 PPM.
Played 18. W=7, D=6, L=5.
While Conceicao was 1.8 PPM.
Played 20. W=11, D=3, L=6.
If you extrapolate his record to 38 games you get 68.4 points. Roma came 5th with 69.
I.e. I doubt Conceicao could have achieved better than 5th in a whole season.
If you want to cherry pick a single competition then compare the UCL figures for each manager.
I haven’t crunched the numbers but Fonseca would have won that hands down. And against much better opponents.
I’m just looking at Serie A points obtained mate.
This is based on the games that Fonseca and Conceicao were responsible for. Transfermarkt has those numbers and Milan from when Conceicao came in (January 1st) to the end of the season was ranked in 4th place for points collected.
Stop whining…at least we are heading in the right direction this season. Long way to go….but we are trending in the right direction. FORZA MILAN!!!
