The huge outlay to sign Goncalo Ramos will be covered by a couple of sales, at least in the minds of the AC Milan management.
MilanNews report that the major investment in Ramos forces Milan to consider how to finance a €74m plus bonuses deal, not that it is an urgent need to cover it all immediately. What makes the fee sustainable is the significant exits that the hierarchy bank on being able to cash in on.

Milan’s plan seems clear: to recoup their €75m investment by selling Santiago Gimenez and Rafael Leao. They have two different situations, but they could allow the Rossoneri to cash in, and quite handsomely.
With Ramos at the heart of the attack, El Bebote – who arrived from Feyenoord in January 2025 – risks finding himself sidelined with his playing time significantly reduced. Therefore, a separation could be the best solution for all parties involved, especially given the difficulties of last season.
The discussion about Leao, however, is more delicate. The Portuguese has been the face of Milan for years, but Amorim’s new direction could change hierarchies, responsibilities, and tactical demands. The directors hope for a sale, both to generate funds and free up wages.
The decision to part with Gimenez and Leao isn’t just about finances. Focusing on Ramos means reshaping the attack around a more pure centre-forward, capable of playing in the penalty area and functional to Amorim’s style of football.
Milan have therefore chosen a clear path: sacrificing two key players to finance the deal that will soon bring the club’s new No.9 to Milan that the coach chose. A risky move in some ways, but also consistent with a true technical revolution.

It’s not a risky move at all, this is something Milan must do, it’s the only way for us and that makes it all so much easier. Estupinan, Loftus-Cheek, Leao and Gimenez need to go, hopefully, we’ll be able to earn/gain more than 100 million for them and reinvest that in the squad immediately.
Maignan (Torriani, Terracciano)- De Winter (Tomori), Silva/Inacio (Gabbia), Pavlovic (Ake ?)- Alexis (Athekame), Hjulmand (Modric, Bondo), Rabiot (Ardon/Ricci, Comotto), ??? (Bartesaghi)-
??? (Zaniolo), Pulisic (Nkunku, ???)- Ramos (???, Camarda); (15+3+9)
Tomori and Ricci must be sold too. We all already know that all the players on loan needs to be sold but these 2 can go in my opinion.
i’d give Ricci another year. He is still young, did reasonably ok when he came on and was Torino’s capt. He’s got something.
Tomori on the other hand, we know what he can offer. He wont get much better.
I think the million dollar question now is how much can you get for Leao and from whom ?
After they spent 70mil on Ramos, i really don’t think they should have any problems getting at least 60 for Leao and at least 30 for Gimenez.
Look at it this way- Ramos was a bench player in PSG, scored a few goals, been AWFUL whole season and still Milan had to pay 65mil + bonuses although he is worth around 30 on transfermarkt.
If thats the case then Milan should be able to get around 100mil combined for 2 players that had horror seasons respectivly(although Leao actually had somewhat good numbers- 9G/3A)
It’s 74 + bonuses, unfortunately. AT LEAST 30 for SG?
Yea, i tried to at least soften the pain a bit with lowering the price 😂
Well 30mil for a 25yo ST that had 1 bad season with good past in Dutch league is justified.
Ramos and him are actually pretty close in terms of numbers, i just checked.
So Ramos played 45games with 12goals and 1 assist this past season. Whats roughly 1 goal every 3.5 games
Santi on the other hand had 1G/ 3A in 18 games
So thats pretty similar if you ask me + they are the same age. But lets see
It’s not the same thing when you start matches being in a starting lineup and when you are on the bench, I’m pretty sure they haven’t had the same playing time (last season) even though SG was out of the picture for a rather long time. Eredivisie isn’t a strong league and a good past there doesn’t have and need to mean anything at all and that doesn’t guarantee you anything when you move to a much tougher environment. Gimenez had a bad season and a HALF, that has/had surelly decreased his value by a lot, getting 25+ for him would be like winning a lottery but who knows, maybe it’s possible.
Why is anyone paying 60 ml for Leao. Just because ACM over pays doesn’t mean others will.
Pulisic must go please.
Why is that?
He will go, thankfully
The plan must be to keep Leao for at least a season more. Amorim and Ramos both portugese so Leao himself must be tempted to wait and see what happens. 50-60 mil for Leao is a loss really. Better to try one more season, if only to get his stock up. We all know what he can do on a good day and if things align properly he can be an elite player with an elite pricetag
But where does leao fit in amorim’s 352?I just don’t like him as a striker going on last season.Amorim likes hard working players and that’s another problem with rafa.I think he’s gone already and we got 60 million coming from him, that’s why we bought Ramos for all that money.
Who needs a backup striker anyway.
Sell Estupinan, Loftus cheek, Musah, Samuel chuk, Leao, Fofana
Keep Fofana and Chukwueze,
sell Bennacer and Gimenez.
“sacrificing two key players”
LOL. Key players? Gimenez? Key player? Well… In a way he was the key to Milan’s disastrous season with his 0 goals but I’d still hesitate to call him a “key player” in any form.
lol Ramos is about one third as good as Leao and Leao is being used to just partly fund his signing. Madness
Real madness
Sell Leao, its time for a new era. one with a goalscorer able to impact games. Running past defenders and not producing is nothing short of a failure. Leaos time is up. Gimenez id probably loan out to get his value up for a sale next season. Pulisic, Nkunku and Trencao would be good behind ramos but who would replace Ramos when needed?
Camarda should just be forced into the 1st team. he will adapt with time.
plus our young midfielders should be in the mix too.
what we urgently need is the right back and left back that are competent and the the currents can be our backups.
