GdS: Milan forced to reflect as Atalanta want €7m for goalkeeper in January

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan might well attempt to bring forward the signing of Marco Sportiello but Atalanta have set a high asking price, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), Maignan’s muscle problems could force Milan to look for a goalkeeper when the transfer window reopens in nine days time.

The paper claims that the negotiation with Atalanta for Marco Sportiello is proving to be a difficult, even though they have agreed a three-year contract close to €1m starting next season, given his deal expires at the end of next season.

However, the Bergamo club do not intend to let him leave in January. Even though Gian Piero Gasperini would prefer to lose him on a free transfer, he is not considering looking for a replacement during the current season.

According to the paper, Atalanta want €7m if they are to sell the 30-year-old next month, which is considered far too high. Maldini and Massara could consider alternative solutions, if Atalanta do not soften their position on Sportiello.

    1. Why him?
      He has done nothing wrong.

He currently has a contract and he can’t force Atalanta to sell/loan him right now.

The one we need to negotiate is not Sportiello, but Atalanta.
