Mike Maignan has made his demands to the AC Milan management in order to renew his contract, and he is asking for a big pay rise.
Milan are expected to make at least one more attempt to keep Maignan, even if it won’t be easy. The saves he has made recently on Marcus Thuram, Lautaro Martinez, Hakan Calhanoglu and Mario Gila make it difficult to stomach the idea that he might only be around for a few more months.
Maignan’s demands
According to SportMediaset, the renewal negotiations involving Maignan and Milan continue to be quite difficult. They claim that the Frenchman is asking for €8m net per season to stay, while the management are stuck at €5m and are unlikely to raise their offer further.
Maignan is liked by several clubs such as Inter, Juventus, Chelsea and PSG. He is heading towards a farewell at the end of the season unless there is a rather drastic change in stance, given the €3m per year gap between the parties.
Milan as a result are looking around for a new goalkeeper. Zion Suzuki from Parma and Elia Caprile from Cagliari are two profiles they are monitoring, but the name of Andriy Lunin from Real Madrid has also cropped up.

Juventus might come up with that money since Vlahovic makes 50% more and is gone in June. Really hope that doesn’t happen.
5 mil seems reseonable with an option for 2 further million if he plays a certain amount of matches and can keep the net clean in a specific amount of matches while for example winning competitions.
Anyways if his eyes is only set on cash then he is free to leave, no grudge there as long as he moves abroad.
Yes but look at it this way. They are offering Maignan 5M€ net and Nkunku is paid 5M€ net. Mike Maignan isn’t re*arded to accept that. I don’t think anyone would.
I get that they reneged on their initial offer as Ive mentioned numerous times but 5 mil with 2mil fairly easily obtainable bonuses should still be enough but he is obviously also in his good right to shop around in the Saudis as I doubt that he will get much more than 7-8 mil in Europe but who knows.
Yeah if Pickford or Leno have almost 5M€ net at their clubs I don’t see a reason why he wouldn’t get 7M€ net. Donnarumma is on 9-9.5M€ net.
I can understand your assessment in regard of the first two but at least Donnarumma is younger and touted as a bigger talent and with bigger reasale potential so if anything he probably should earn more in the epl.
City doesn’t get players with resell potential, just the best they can. They don’t care. In this case irrelevant.
Generally speaking I’m just saying that paying a large salary can also be a picture of that a player has potential to be resold hence recouping some of the money invested in him and Donnarumma still has his age on his side to be resold whereas Maignan doesn’t after his next move.
the situation
Mike : raise my salary, or you cant keep me
Furlani: let me think about it
Nkunku: give me 9 milion euro
Furlani: where do i sign it?
The Maignan story is the result of furlani’s incompetence and ignorance. Furlani is to blame for this mess when he lowered the offer to maignan last year apparently because he made some mistakes.
But furlani has made loads of stupid mistakes since he became milan’s CEO ….
and has his salary been lowered???!!!
Furlani is definitely the problem!! The world sees that clearly but somehow redbird doesn’t.
I will never understand why Milan are so cheap and stupid. Why would they not spend a bit more to keep him when to replace him will cost so much more and then there’s no guarantee the guy they get to replace him will be as good. Mind-boggling.
Give him 6m case close . If he rejects then bye to him.
players go players come Milan remains 🖤♥️
6,5🤝
That is too much for a keeper Who has more than once let in some weird goals especially on his ner post and he has benen injured ALOT.
6M tops with bonuses or else find a new keeper.
And its not Furlanis fault.. it takes two too tango.
I think he wants to leave no matter what.. he wants to try new league.
Couple of things here. Mike is right to ask for premier GK money. Even keeping his injury record and limitations, he’s worth what he asks. Now, asking for 8mil at Milan is effectively asking for your way out of the club. This club has shown they have no loyalty to players. To keep the club profitable and running in the black, you can offload good pieces for money which is what we’ve seen over the years.
Good Luck to Mike at his next club.
“This club has shown they have no loyalty to players.”
Just like the players have shown they have no loyalty to the club. Also, no player is bigger than the club. Players come and go, the club remains.
Best news ever… This management is crap they didn’t even increase their offer…
How much will it cost to buy a goodkeeper?
So I wonder if those SAME IDIOTS who bashed Maldini when he couldn’t resign Donnaruma and lost him for FREE will also bash Tare for losing Mike for FREE 🤔🤔LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO…..
The damage was done before Tare arrived. I don’t think he deserves any blame at all.
LOLOLOLO-kid fails to understand the basics. You can’t help it – even if you try.
I know it would break their wage rules to go near 8M. But it likely worth it if he can keep playing like this. Considering:
– the transfer fee required for his replacement
– the five years they have got away with paying him well under value on his current deal.
The club wouldn’t be in this mess if they had renegotiated to extend by a couple of years and start paying him what his is actually worth. Should have done that 2 or 3 years ago.
Now the player likely feels like he needs $8 M to make up for all the years he has been under paid on about $2.5 M.
Acknowledging that in the past I have said we could have cashed in on him as GK is probably the easiest position to replace in Italy.
At this point he deserves a big contract and Milan should correct the situation. They have chronically under paid Mike while Origi $1.5 M more to do absolutely nothing.
I completely agree with you. An €8M salary demand for a goalkeeper of Maignan’s caliber, especially considering he played out a contract where he was underpaid from day one, is entirely reasonable. Earning €2.8M per season is frankly a joke, even factoring in his injury history.
Maignan should have been offered the same contract as Leão two seasons ago, and he likely would have accepted it then. Now, because of the management’s inaction and refusal to give him a deserved raise last season after a brief dip in form, we’re facing the prospect of losing one of the best goalkeepers in the world for free simply because the club didn’t want to pay him what he’s worth.
Milan was not able to to meet salary requests for Kessie, Donnarumma and Calhanoglu. And three Milan directors were fired as part of the process. (Evidently they were still able to get titles after losing the players)
Now for Maignan. Who is gonna get fired, but Furlani is in charge of this renewal? 🙂
Maignan, Do Not stay in Milan, please. sincerely
He will go to Bayern Munchen, it is the biggest club in a hunt for a goalkepper.
First think in my mind, Why Milan always lost key player before renewal contract? Like Theo, Kessie, Hakan, Donnaruma. Why Milan not learned the cases ? Its like a stupid idiot, that is Milan’s management right now. They not learned from the past. And always did the same things. Red Bird Out, Middle east investor In please.
According to Maldini, Kessie agent changed demands last minute. Theo was viewed as toxic by the clubs hierarchy. Donnarumma didn’t want to stay and asked for a ludicrous contract. I honestly believe Hakan left because of Ibra, he would always berate him and I really don’t think he liked that, when he left he had a lot to say about Ibra and it seemed personal
6-6.5m & i think he signs
Mike is a very good keeper, one of the best in the world.
I believe there should be enough dialogue between management and player., I like him
