Konstantinos Karetsas seemed to be heading for Borussia Dortmund, but AC Milan might just be attempting a hijack.
Karetsas was heavily linked with a move to Milan a few weeks ago, then things went quiet and it appeared that Dortmund were on the verge of signing the Genk star, having agreed personal terms with his entourage.

Milan hold new Karetsas talks
Now, Milan are trying to get involved in the race for the young attacking midfielder. Matteo Moretto reported the latest in his video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, with his words via MilanVibes.
“The 2007-year-old Greek winger from Genk remains a name that Milan really likes. In recent weeks there had been no further talk, thanks to the advanced negotiations with Borussia Dortmund,” he said.
“But in the last few hours the Rossoneri have reportedly had further contacts for the talented prospect, who fits perfectly with the characteristics Amorim is looking for for that position on the pitch: a young, promising player with great talent.”
However, sales will be needed to finance the operation. On that front, the negotiations for the sale of Pervis Estupinan to Aston Villa are seemingly on the home straight, which could provide at least part of the funds required.
Karetsas is 18 years of age and is left-footed, which marries perfectly with what Amorim wants from his right-sided attacking midfielder. He had 11 assists in 34 league games for Genk in 2025-26, in what was a breakout season for the teenage talent.
Wrong choice
We should stay away from Belgian league. 35m outlay gets us much better players from french league or even serie A. A left field but smart signing is Yasin Ayari from Brighton, 1 year left on his contact, versatile able to play various roles including more advanced like CAM. Creative, great shooting and passing range, 22 years old, scored 3 at the world cup, 3 years of EPL experience with a decent team. Will cost less than this greek kid.
Italian please
Unfortunately there’s no genuinely classy Italian playmaker like del piero, baggio etc. zaniolo isn’t that great. At 27 he hasn’t made it, signing him now isn’t the answer. Maybe with Maldini in charge of Italian FA we will see new generation come through in next few years.
