GdS: Milan have Retegui high on list of targets but Inter lead the race – the reason

By Oliver Fisher -

Mateo Retegui is the name that has been generating a lot of attention over the past few days after his Italy call-up, and a future in Serie A could await.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Milan are in the market for a new centre-forward who can lead the line for years to come and Retegui is on their list, but Inter have the advantage in the race at the moment.

Many Italian clubs have registered an interest in the 23-year-old, but the Nerazzurri are on pole ahead of Milan and Roma because they sent the young Facundo Colidio on loan to Tigre, having bought him from Boca Juniors in 2017 for €7m.

This could help Inter in the event of negotiations because they could ‘use’ Colidio as leverage to get a discount on Retegui, whose asking price at the moment is set at around €10m.

However, the price could soon rise and Premier League clubs could soon take note, so for this reason the Milanese clubs will have to move quickly if they want to invest in Italy’s next striker.
