Tuttosport: Milan’s revenues from Spurs game draw comparisons with Man Utd

AC Milan raised a huge amount from ticket sales in the game against Spurs on Tuesday night, drawing comparisons with Manchester United.

As Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it) report this morning, Milan recorded the highest box office revenue for a single game in the history of Italian football as the nearly 75,000 fans that came to San Siro raised €9.1m.

The crowd quite literally filled the stadium ‘at all costs’, because the average price of a ticket for the game against Spurs was €122, which is comfortably above what it would be for an average game in Serie A.

The paper adds that the record figure obtained in the win against Tottenham represents just over double what was recorded on average by Manchester United, who – in the Premier League – are the team who collect the largest revenue from the stadium given their status as one of the biggest clubs in Europe for decades now.
