AC Milan plan to reward Davide Bartesaghi with a new contract, also to fend off interest from Premier League clubs.

Heading into 2025-26, it seemed as though Bartesaghi would be the deputy left wing-back under Massimiliano Allegri, given the investment to sign Pervis Estupinan. However, when the Ecuadorian got injured, the Italian grabbed the opportunity with both hands and is now the starter.

Milan now have a new ‘star’, and given his young age the feeling is that he could develop into a mainstay of the side for years to come, perhaps with a call-up to the senior Italian national team not too far away either.

During his daily video update on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano spoke about the future of Bartesaghi and confirmed Milan’s plan to give him a contract extension.

“This future Milan will undoubtedly include Davide Bartesaghi, one of the Rossoneri’s most valued players in recent months, thanks to Massimiliano Allegri’s work,” he said.

“It was a gamble behind Estupinan’s back, but Bartesaghi has amply demonstrated his status and his role as an important player in this and the future of Milan. This is why the club has already scheduled talks regarding his contract renewal.

“Milan have every intention of rewarding Bartesaghi financially by increasing his salary. They have every intention of rejecting the Premier League’s concrete advances: several calls, several contacts, but Milan are counting on Bartesaghi.

“This is why his renewal is becoming increasingly certain and secure. The details of this new contract will need to be ironed out, and given Bartesaghi’s performance, his salary will be improved. So all those Premier League-related discussions will remain unresolved.”
