CM: Milan could sign a right-back with Florenzi facing a long absence – two options emerge

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan may now go in search of a right-back given the injury sustained by Alessandro Florenzi in last night’s draw with Sassuolo, a report claims.

Florenzi could be set for an extended period on the sidelines as Stefano Pioli has admitted his muscle injury does not look good. The full-back was chasing a ball that landed over his shoulder and he instantly pulled up grimacing in pain, and it seems ‘fairly serious’ as per the Milan boss.

According to Calciomercato.com, Florenzi will undergo an instrumental examination to assess the severity of the left flexor problem but there is very much the risk that Pioli will be without the right-back for a long time.

Now the management are reflecting on whether or not to return to the market in search of a new right-back, and among the options evaluated are the names of Davide Zappacosta of Atalanta and Gabriele Zappa of Cagliari.

Other names are also being evaluated, while Fode Ballo-Toure will remain with the Rossoneri despite the interests of Galatasaray, OGC Nice and Fulham, with Pioli being decisive in that choice.

  1. In the first place it was a mistake signing florenzi permanently, he is injury prone and is 31, he does not give the need aggression and drive on the right,Calabria needs serious competition that will make him work harder, Florenzi and Messias were a waste of money, it still makes me wonder why they did not sign Belanova…

    1. Channeling my inner Stanley, “it’s to make up homegrown numbers for squad registration list”
Also Belanova was our youth product but was chased by Juve and Inter and previously Man City and Spurs. Seems either we didn’t want him back or he was a fan of another team. He would have fulfilled our quota too😅

    2. Because Bellanova is a certified dick head. That’s the reason why he left us in the first place and was thrown out of Bordeaux as well

  2. Like someone said above. Put salamakers to Rb when capitano needs a break. Get a RW. Full problems solved. And I think Ziyech will move to Spurs today.

But what actually will happen is, kalulu or Thiaw will be cover for Capitano. That way all defenders will get chances. And RW problems will persist. I think our Mercato is over tbh.

  3. Kalulu is a better RB than Calabria anyway. No need to panic. Messias was/is far better than Saladmaker on the right but only as a back-up. RW is the position that is costing us at the moment..

  4. So? Kalulu can take over from Calabria if needed, while Kjaer/Gabbia/Thiaw can fight for spot nex to Tomori. Salesmaker also although he’s reckless and commits too much fouls. We need RW and DM more.

  5. Whoever comes in will come on loan.
Instead of experimenting bring in an actual RB.
Bring Zappa, he is young and looks offensive minded
Saelemakers can’t play at RB, he is so undisciplined tactically. Pioli tried him once last year and yanked him at half time.
Keep Kalulu at CB until we see what this kid Thiaw has. Kalulu is currently our best defender.
I’m sorry but Kjaer shouldn’t play for Milan anymore. He is too slow for our style. Yesterday he kicked every ball he touched in the stands

  6. That Berardi is overrated. The greatest mistake Milan made is allowing Belotti to join Roma. Giroud and Origi cannot give us what we needed. Milan should have sign Ziyech for the RW position, as Messias and Saelemekers can’t deliver.

  7. They are crazy if buy RB , lord saladmaker & kalulu can fill RB position. Better try loan ziyech or other RW rather than wasting time buy RB . Play kalulu in RB , malick thiaw – tomori in CB
