AC Milan are back into a roller coaster like setting, with results up and down at this moment. Perhaps at the worst possible time.
This season has already been an interesting one, with Milan showing themselves to be possible Scudetto candidates. However, there is still the issues with consistency which have been harming the side for years.

Last year, it was more a case of downs than ups. Of course, there was the odd period of success, but they were often followed by sustained periods of questions. Now, the season has been largely positive. Yet, questions remain.
A rollercoaster season
The record this year has been phenomenal against the top teams – fixtures that the Rossoneri struggled with massively 12 months ago – and this has justified those discussions about a possible 20th title.
Yet, their form against the ‘lesser’ teams in the division is harming them greatly. Against Cremonese, Massimiliano Allegri’s side lost. Then, Pisa and Parma resulted in two draws. Two points from sides expected to be near the bottom of the table.
Wins against Napoli and Roma were fantastic, but they become watered down when the streak of wins is broken somewhat regularly with underwhelming results, normally at the fault of the Diavolo.
Reasons for the ups and downs
The rollercoaster this year, of course, has been more positive. It does not take much to see that. However, there is still that pattern of ups and downs that Massimiliano Allegri must knock if his team are to be a serious contender for the Scudetto.
To counter the argument about things being up and down, you could argue it only strengthens calls for reinforcements arriving in the next few months. Even then, it can be said that Milan have been without key players and remained consistent.
Nevertheless, excuses cannot really be made in this position. If another team wins the Scudetto, it will not have less meaning because Allegri’s team did not have certain players available at certain points.
Where next
Looking forward then, the preparation must start for the Derby della Madonnina soon. After all, it would be the perfect chance to, again, establish themselves as a player in the Scudetto race, as well as continue the high-flying feeling.
The support for the Rossoneri, as always, will be strong, and whilst tickets have sold out for this clash, there are certainly other opportunities to see AC Milan in action. For now, though, the international break will be a chance for nerves and excitement to build.
