Reports: Milan and Roma in ‘constant contact’ over Gimenez-Dovbyk swap

Milan and Roma continue to hold heated discussions regarding the Artem Dovbyk-Santiago Gimenez swap deal, reports claim.

One of the sub-plots to a red-hot end to the summer window concerns the striker position, and the possibility that Milan and Roma could complete a swap deal just as they did last year for Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers.

Talks continue

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan and Roma are in constant contact regarding the Gimenez-Dovbyk swap. The two clubs are negotiating cautiously, trying to finalise all the details of the deal to get it done before the 20:00 CEST.

The clubs’ goal is to include any buy-out options associated with the deal, while avoiding dry loans, which the players are not too keen on. Negotiations are therefore proceeding slowly, with both parties intent on reaching a satisfactory compromise before the transfer window closes.

Alfredo Pedulla is also reporting that there are live negotiations ongoing between the Rossoneri and the Giallorossi, with the aim of agreeing the option to buy figures in the respective agreements. It is a race against time, but the mutual desire to get it done appears to be there.

At present, no figures have leaked out regarding what the buy-out clauses would be.

    1. Swap is off. Either Dovbyk comes in irregardless of Santi and we keep all three. Or rumors have it CHelsea are after Santi.

  1. I’m confused how this would be good for Milan…what’s wrong with Milan’s Mercato in this final moment of transfer window?
Gimenez is wayy better technically than Dovbyk…

  2. why not keep Santi at least until January and get Ukranian on loan + easily achievable obligation…

win-win for everyone, and it’s known that Roma don’t want him

  3. I really hate this idea. If Gimenez was deemed of no use he should have been sold and then we should have brought in a far better alternative than Dovbyk. That alternative isn’t Nkunko or for that matter fielding Leao up front.

      1. I get that but that doesn’t make Dovbyk right either. If the choice is between the two I’ll rather stick with Gimenez. AC Milans management should praise themselves lucky that I hadn’t transfered to the club in such a short span of time moving to a different country as I would flip my middle finger to them if they tried to move me on like cattle so soon after my initial move.

          1. Well to be fair I think the Mercato started out fairly well minus the Reijnders sale but at this point it seems to be disorganized. To be fair I’d much rather pummel Cardinale and Furlani if anyone, hell I would pay money to do that 😛

    1. Front three of Leao/Puli/Nkunku all as interchanging false 9’s is an interesting concept if Allegri can make it stick. They can all swap sides and interchange positions in attack.

Dovbyk is a big question mark and Santi is unfortunately not improving yet.

      1. I get that we will have some movement upfront but if we actually are planning to field Leao as the cf I would have my worries in that decision.

Yeah Dovbyk doesn’t leave me with much confidence either. I would give Santi time to prove himself.
