AC Milan are expected to hold deadline day talks with Roma over a swap deal involving Artem Dovbyk and Santiago Gimenez, a report claims.

It has been reported since the start of the window that Milan want a striker to complete the attack, and as of the morning of September 1 – with just hours of the summer transfer window remaining – a natural centre-forward is yet to arrive.

On Sunday, Fabrizio Romano among other sources reported that Gimenez had opened up to the idea of leaving Milan and moving to Roma. In turn, this reignited the possibility of an exchange deal involving Dovbyk.

More talks expected

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that in the last few hours the Dovbyk-Gimenez swap talks stalled, but new contacts are expected between Roma and Milan to find a meeting point.

Discussions are in fact expected between the clubs on deadline day to try to find a solution, after the exchange became blocked because of a disagreement on the formulas, in particular the figures of an option to buy and conditions to make it permanent.

The parties will therefore meet again this morning to try to reach an agreement, but the operation remains complicated at present, despite Gimenez’s openness to a transfer to Roma.

  1. why Massara asks for a buyout clause to be included in the exchange and says that they will get an unhappy player back, and Milan will get a better one. So who hasn’t figured it out yet?

  2. Jimenez jangan di jual, lebih baik dovbyk di pinjam saja. Kasih Jimenez bermain reguler, beli pemain sayap kiri dan kanan yg berkualitas

  3. This will so come back to haunt us if it goes through. I’ll need to update my capocannoniere prediction if Santi is at Roma with Gasperini.
