Tuttosport: Distance persists over Romagnoli’s renewal – the stance of both parties

By Oliver Fisher -

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Alessio Romagnoli as his contract has just six months left on it and nothing suggests that an extension is imminent.

According to the latest from Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the renewal negotiations have not borne the results that the Milan management despite the opening from the captain to extend his deal beyond the current deadline of June.

The defender currently earns €6m net per season as per the terms of the agreement he signed under the Chinese ownership when a bid from Chelsea was rejected, but Milan have made it clear that they can only keep him if he takes a sizeable pay cut.

Milan have put €2.8m net per season on the table, while Romagnoli would like at least €3.5m plus €1m in bonuses. In short, there is still a significant distance between the parties, who last met in November.

Updates are expected in the coming weeks but there must be progress made otherwise Romagnoli could follow the path of Donnarumma, Calhanoglu and even Kessie.

  1. The issue exists because the previous ownership bent for Raiola and gave them whatever they asked. You remember the Donnarumma brother who is at my level and he got 1M per season? So effectively Gigio had a higher salary, because his brother was paid for nothing.

    1. if we agree to his terms @4m, we get to pay him 2m till june & still have him in case kjaer does not hit the great form he was in b4 his injury & nothing makes it sure that we would sign botman (when we didn’t get thauvin, faivre etc), we can still sell him for about 15-20m if we need to next year, but we get to loose nothing, rather than this shit management letting players go for free, we need top scouts & directors, these management are just about balancing books at the detriment of advancement. we would earn more, when we have solid players & bench, we would win cups & play in Europe, the money would come, but……

      1. You speak as its easy to sell player nowdays, even Liverpool losing Wijnaldum for free, Milan and Tottenham reach an agreement but Cashie doesnt want to leave cuz his and his agent greedy ass knows they can get more at the end of season, dumbass like you only knows how to bark like a dog.

  2. why not extend romanogli, think he has show some hunger and desire to play in milan, to have those 3 tomori, kjaer and romanogli brings a good balance for the squad
