GdS: Milan could sacrifice Rabiot or Pavlovic to avoid negative accounts

AC Milan could end up making another sacrifice this summer to avoid leaving the season in the red, just like they have done in recent years.

When looking at the Milan accounts from recent years, they do look positive. Of course, three (record-breaking) years of profit in a row are solid. However, they have not been without fault. To achieve the profits, players have had to be sold.

So, most would’ve preferred negative accounts with the likes of Tijjani Reijnders, Theo Hernandez and, of course, Sandro Tonali staying. Whilst it may not have been feasible, it is bigger than profit and sustainability.

Ultimately, the Rossoneri are historically one of the biggest competitors in European football. Right now, they are not.

Sacrifices possible for accounts

Due to a lack of Champions League football this season, a season in the red was always possible, if not probable. Indeed, this is why there is such a focus on achieving a top-four spot this season.

Focusing on the current set of accounts, though, Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that there may be sacrifices this summer in order to keep the accounts in the green.

The first idea would see Strahinja Pavlovic potentially leave; the Serbian defender is the subject of heavy interest from abroad and his price tag would be high. Alternatively, it could be Adrien Rabiot who leaves.

In recent months, he turned down a move to Saudi Arabia, due to his desire to continue working with Massimiliano Allegri. If, for whatever reason, he left, it is possible that the Frenchman would join him out of the door.

  1. Why don’t they sacrifice one of the geniuses that got the club into this predicament in the first place? Pretty sure all those clowns are still around.

      1. Yes, Nkunku 100%. But also Ricci and especially Jashari for 40M from Belgium after you already brought in Modric and Ricci in the same transfer window. Logic 0. At the same time Fofana has to play as mezalla as you bought another 3 players for the “deep lying playmaker” position, that Fofana played at Monaco as well. I think if you put one of these “AI” useless apps to make the decisions, they’d do better.

    1. Well said Max, I think that this journalist is smoking weed or being paid by Milan. Sell Furlani or free transfer, that’s a start.

    1. Nah, 11 players in the squad should be enough. Can’t put more on the field. And we’ve got plenty peak performing.

  2. I don’t think this Milan owner are serious, every year they sold one player how can Milan competite with intermilan and others

  3. If it has to be between the two, I think I would “sacrifice” Pavlovic. Rabiot is almost irreplaceable. We are obviously worse when he’s not on the pitch.

In any case, we don’t need to sacrifice either. Our “sacrifice” will happen up top, where we have two players who are completely hampered by Allegri’s formation and tactics. I’m talking about Leao and Pulisic. Either can be sold for 50-60M. Given their contract situations, I would even go as far as selling both of them. That’s 100-120M right there. We keep Rabiot and Pavlovic. Sign another CB (Gila 30M?), sign another CM (Goretzka free?), sign a good striker (50M?), sign a good second striker (30M?). Keep RLC for the last year of his contract so that he can play backup to the SS. Keep Gimenez so he can back up the new striker. Sell deadwood like Nunku, Mussah, and a few others. We’d still be able to have a good mercato without CL money. The problem is the idiots making the personnel decisions…

    1. I think a lot of fans will be in for a rude awakening this summer when, or IF, any offers come in for Leao and Pulisic, especially the amounts offered for those 2 players.
Teams watch the same games we do. Why would any team out there willing to take a flyer on those 2 would pay 50-60 mil? Loans with option to buy is more of a realistic offer than 50-60 mil straight transfer.

    2. If we miss the Champions League again I think Leao/Puli/Modric/Rabiot all leave. Leao is probably gone regardless of the league outcome. Puli is at the age where he won’t want to miss CL two years in a row with nothing but a slight chance of making it in in 2027. Man United and Liverpool both have legitimate interest due to it being the last year of his contract and his current slump which in their eyes make him cheap. Modric will retire and Rabiot will probably try to force a move. Of the four he’s probably the most likely to stay without CL.

I wouldn’t even waste time worrying about Pavlovic. Good player but we have bigger issues.

  4. The hypothetical sales of Pavlovic and Rabiot are because those 2 are probably the only Milan players other teams would be interested in.
Pavlovic is still on the younger side, with an upside and good enough season to generate interest, while Rabiot is a proven midfielder having another great season after the one at Marseille.
Bartesaghi might be another. Similar to Pavlovic. Young, with huge upside.
Not much interest for the rest without selling them for a bargain just to get them of the team or getting of their salaries.

    1. Who is writing this article?
He must be Inter fan who is hoping Milan’s downfall, Milan will Not sell good key players but they sell lousy players…

  6. It hasn’t been on negative accounts for at least 2-3 yrs ago so i don’t think they will HAVE TO sell.
But RLC Nkunku Gimenez Musah Estupinian Terraciano have to leave. Also for Jashari and Ricci hes not using them well. Last I’m gonna criticise the team and Allegri when they give Solid LWB 2 True ST keep Leao Pul bc they are the best attackers u have. 2 more CBs after that if he gets that amd still fails then I’ll agree with everyone in here

  7. Just sell Leao, at least then Allegri cannot start with him and we can go back to matches were we start with 11 players instead of 10 with Leao starting.

  8. If they continue to destroy the Great Milan then we must boycott even better than Lazio, don’t go to the stadium and don’t buy merchandise until change of ownership. Maybe Cardinale should buy Torino and then make a Turin derby the big thing, reach the conference league and sell players, build a Torino stadium. AC Milan is too bigger club for Cardinale or American owners in general.
