MN: Messias, Saelemaekers and Leao as a striker – Pioli’s idea ahead for Salernitana

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is considering even more rotation in the attacking department for the visit of Salernitana on Saturday, a report claims.

MilanNews reports that Junior Messias’ recent goal scoring exploits have certainly left an impression on Pioli, given he scored the winner at the Wanda Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid and bagged a brace last night at the Stadio Luigis Ferraris against Genoa.

The Brazilian has scored his first three official goals for the Rossoneri in his first three games, showing not only quality with the ball at his feet and a clinical nature when shooting, but also that he knows what to do in the non-possession phase with his movements and cover.

Pioli must now make a serious reflection on whether Messias should keep starting, given that the 30-year-old is physically fine and is full of confidence. Against Salernitana he could get another start on the right, but Alexis Saelemaekers could shift to the left with Rafael Leao playing as the striker instead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who must be carefully managed.
