Sole 24 Ore: Milan to San Donato, Inter to Rozzano – San Siro farewell evident

AC Milan and Inter have given up on building a stadium together in the San Siro area amidst the unwillingness of the city council. In fact, both clubs have now seemingly decided where their respective new home will be.

The San Siro project was first announced several years ago, more specifically in 2019, but the clubs encountered several legal issues along the way. Furthermore, the unwillingness of the city council to help out made the matter impossible, in the end.

As reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, Milan have bought the rights for the SportLifeCity project in San Donato and Inter have been granted exclusive right to evaluate the Rozzano area. In short, both are keen to get on with the stadium project separately.

Therefore, San Siro farewell has more or less been confirmed and it comes as no surprise given that the iconic stadium should be hit with a historic constraint next year, which would make a demolition illegal.

We have written about the San Donato area extensively on our Substack (the first one in April, the second one in June and the third one earlier this month).
