Tuttosport: Milan scouting two centre-backs ahead of potential overhaul – the names

After a very disappointing season, a lot will change at AC Milan this summer and that includes the defensive department, with two centre-backs targeted.

As Tuttosport report, Milan will hire a new sporting director and most likely a new coach. The transfer moves will follow, with the defence in particular in the crosshairs after what has been a statistically terrible season.

Even though there is not yet a director in place to make calls ahead of the summer on who might stay or go, the scouting team and the current management are still carrying on their work of researching possible profiles. In this sense, they have been monitoring two players.

One is Italian and is playing a starring role for both Hellas Verona and Italy U21, and that is Diego Coppola. Given his homegrown status he would be very useful for the squad list composition, and also has league experience.

The other name that the scouts have been watching closely is Cristian Mosquera, who is currently a starter for Valencia at the age of 20 and is tipped for big things. There were links with the Spaniard back in December, and his agent was even questioned about them, giving little away.

    1. Agree – I won’t lose any sleep over selling those two. Gabbia for me is the only starter/backup going forward out of the whole freaking defence…

      1. Gabbia is slow and can’t close down attacking players in transition fast enough. Pretty sure that’s why Conceicao hesitates to start him. He’s pretty good positionally but we need pacy defenders.

        1. Gabbia decision with attacker more powerful than the others. His intercept was good to. Thiaw too slowly and little confuse with his defending …

        2. And that is what we need – defenders that have a better positional sense. Maldini once said when he was playing if he had to make a tackle or run ‘after’ the ball he already had made a mistake. So i would rather our defenders be in the right place to intercept then rely on pace to run back, as that clearly hasn’t worked for Tomori this season.

  1. Coppola is a must signing for Milan but I would prefer Milan go with an all Italian CB pairing or CBs who already play in Serie A such Bijol from Udinese or Bukema from Bologna to pair with Coppola.

No more CBs who haven’t played in Serie A. Most of them don’t know the art of defending until they arrive in Serie A.

I won’t miss Tomori and Thiaw. For some reason Thiaw is only defender I’ve seen who can’t clear a ball off his goal line and it always ends up in the goal. Smh

    1. The Bologna pair, JDavid and Ricci are a must,

Tonal if we can get him!

Rovella, should also be targeted along with Lucca

The above with retention of our current squad, minus Tomori, whose transfer fee plus all their other loan’s we have out should cover us to purchase the above.

But our management will do the opposite and then we will be hearing the word ‘re-build’ banded around for the rest of next season!!

You can’t rebuild unless you sought out the foundations first!!!, Cardinal has no idea how to move Milan forward and is now destroying all their progress we made after the banter era!!
