AC Milan are putting some pieces in place ahead of a massive summer transfer window, and we have learned that they are scouting a Mainz 05 star.
The big news from the past 24 hours is that Igli Tare is now closing in on becoming the next sporting director of Milan. The former Lazio director seems to be the man that the management have settled on, and now he can get to work planning 2025-26 and beyond.
While waiting for news on who the next head coach might be – with talk that Bologna’s Vincenzo Italiano is the frontrunner – it seems the current recruitment team are compiling a list of players that might be useful. Among them, we have been informed, is Nadiem Amiri.
Milan scouting Nadiem Amiri
Sources close to the situation have told us that Milan have had a scout present to watch Amiri in action for Mainz. At the moment it has not gone much further than first-hand observation and initial discussions to test the waters, but the interest is there.
Valued at €18m on Transfermarkt, the 28-year-old began his career as more of a forward, becoming established as an attacking midfielder who could play out wide if needed.
However, with Mainz he has played more as a box-to-box midfielder, leading to the obvious suggestion that he might be being considered as a potential replacement for Tijjani Reijnders.
With eight goals and five assists in 32 games this season in that mezzala role, the former Leverkusen man has even earned a call-up to the German national team and has represented his country seven times.
Amiri played 146 times for Bayer Leverkusen, amassing 12 goals and 20 assists. He also played for Hoffenheim (115 games, 13 goals and as many assists), while he has nine goals and nine assists in 47 games for Mainz.
He already has some Serie A experience as well, albeit brief, given he played for Genoa on loan in the second half of 2021-22, registering two assists.
Reijnders already on his way to city..
I just wish it is for like 90m euro or something like that. Then it will kinda compensate for such a terrible season we had with no European tournaments at all. We would have to rely more on cheaper deals and talents from futuro. Maybe it makes room for Camarda, Zeroli, bartssaghi and more. WHO knows.
Encore des joueurs moyens pour un low cost
LMAO!!! Amiri as a replacement for Reijnders ….
Keep reijnders.
In fact don’t sell any player until the manager and intended style of play is clear.
E.g if we play 433 or 3421, we’d be better off selling Leao, musah, Emerson, terraciano, bennacer and others first.
If it is 352, sell Leao & other redundant players 👆🏾 first, keep salad and adli. Okafor maybe useful.
Have a concrete plan, offload deadwood and tactically unfit players and then go for QUALITY over quantity.
