A year after the last time, AC Milan are be back on the hunt for a striker that they hope will this time fix the issue long-term.

The investment in Santiago Gimenez has not worked out so far, barring any drastic improvement when he returns from injury. For this reason, the management are looking for a striker who can provide goals and is a bit more of a physical striker, which is what Massimiliano Allegri wants.

Striker carously

As Quotidiano Sportivo (via MilanNews) have reported today, Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku are the two players in the attack that have disappointed most so far relative to expectations, and therefore the two players who could make room for a potential new arrival.

Frankly, it’s hard to imagine the former Chelsea man leaving after just a few months given he cost around €40m, but what’s certain is that a significant turnaround in his performances is expected.

Gimenez’s position is much more at risk, having already been on the market this summer and having failed to make the impact he should have had in the first few months of the season, with just one goal in the Coppa Italia. He’s been injured for about a month and a half too, which hasn’t helped.

Numerous names are being floated around in terms of possible targets. One possibility is Lorenzo Lucca, the Napoli striker who the Italian champions effectively snatched from the Rossoneri this summer.

The former Udinese star’s performances have left much to be desired, and Romelu Lukaku’s imminent return to Antonio Conte’s will further close the door on him. The deal is complicated because he’s technically still on loan from Udinese, with an obligation to buy.

A recent suggestion is Mauro Icardi, who is struggling for playing time due to Victor Osimhen’s presence, however his salary is very high. Joshua Zirkzee is being mentioned again, but Roma are also pressing for him.

  1. Give Gimenez a chance for another month we are still winning games even if he isn’t scoring. Makes no sense to buy another striker rather invest the money on a good defender. Leao and Puli are scoring and they will be starting once both fit.

    1. makes no sense to pay for a striker that doesn’t score goals. if we had a striker that does score goals say 3-5 goals we very will would have 3-5 wins instead of draws and a clear control on 1st place

  2. couldve just kept camarda and given him the minutes. impossible for him to score less than the 0 goals these other clowns have put up

    1. Do you think Milan is going to rely on the power of friendship like your brain does?

Camarda has done jack sh*t in Serie A and somehow you have the audacity to bring up his name, meaning YOU DONT WATCH HIM AT ALL

  3. Lucca can’t come because he’s on loan at Napoli. And for Napoli to offload him they would have to buy him which at this point might as well be a sci-fi novel.

    1. Stranger things have happened. Is it an obligation to buy? Their deal with Udinese is a contract and all contracts can be amended by consensual agreement. Milan could simply agree to assume the terms of the deal and if Udinese are OK with it, it can go through.
