Santiago Gimenez of Mexico

Vitiello: ‘Confidence growing’ – Milan send ‘improved’ offer to Feyenoord for Gimenez

With Alvaro Morata heading towards the exit and Francesco Camarda departing, AC Milan desperately need a striker through the door, and confidence is growing.

Whatever happens, you don’t get rid of two of your three first-team striker options mid-season, unless a replacement is all but guaranteed to arrive. Of course, we can include Luka Jovic here, but he nor Tammy Abraham are the most reliable options.

Entering the second half of the season relying on that duo is a recipe for failure, so things must be perfectly calculated, and it seems that things are progressing further with Santiago Gimenez.

If the Mexican were to arrive, it would lessen the pressure, definitely, but with him suffering an injury on Wednesday night, there also has to be precaution about his situation.

Nevertheless, as Antonio Vitiello of Milan News writes, Milan have submitted another bid for the striker this afternoon, with contact resuming earlier in the day. At present, no response has arrived from the Dutch outfit, but in a later tweet, the journalist stated that ‘confidence is growing’.

Vitiello states that the Rossoneri are ‘pressing’ for the deal, which might be due to how quickly a move for Alvaro Morata has come to fruition and the fact they do not want to be left red-faced.

    1. Third world conspiracy theories expose your lack of education. Stop making a show of yourself. In your country, businesses may bribe journalists, that doesn’t happen in the developed world.

      1. Hey racist please keep shut.

The glorified first word countries have conspiracy theories too.

How can the mods allow this to stand.

      2. Who says I’m from 3rd world country? And if you think that bribes are only 3rd world problem than you are very poor soul living in a fantasy world… lowkey thought it was written by 14 yo, lmao… read some news kiddo…

      3. I live in America. We’re a 3rd world country for sure judging by the conspiracy theories and crap education. This is confirmed.

          1. Yes, very good company, they found ways to avoid paying corporate taxes for years. Gerry should use accounting loopholes and bring Ricci to Milan. If that doesn’t work invest in the Enron egg. Who doesn’t want an at home nuclear reactor?

  1. This is a big bet, because some big teams in the past looked at him, but were not convinced from what they saw. If he is bought and fails to fit at Milan, the entire management will have to go. After millions spent on misfit players like Chuk, Morata, Musah, Royal, RLC, this one would be too much.

    1. InterFan, you’re right. We’re going through another squad overhaul due to our last transfer mistakes. After winning the Scudetto, only a few high-quality additions would have been necessary. Instead, we completely rebuilt the team. And now, in the Summer we’ll have to rebuild once again.

    2. Moncada and Ibrahimovic will go. Furlani deals with contracts, there wouldn’t be any point in firing him. Oh and Bonera also needs to go, this Sunday. A year out of the UCL should at least mean the coach will be forced to play the youngsters. Maybe they’ll do the smart thing and get Abate.

    1. Jovic wouldnt do worse than Morata.

But I’m sure the management will sign Giménez, maybe even out of panic, just to avoid even greater criticism.

      1. You can’t be sure of anything with Moncada. He’ll panic and go to France and try for David, which should have been the plan last summer.

  2. From what I’ve seen he’s to sluggish and nothing special by any means. He’s not better than a fit Jović.

    It’s a panic buy.

  3. Optimistic Journalist: “ Whatever happens, you don’t get rid of two of your three first-team striker options mid-season, unless a replacement is all but guaranteed to arrive..”

    Milan management: “Lol, alright bet!”

The way things are playing out, we might see Pavlović or worse, Terraciano lacing up as our striker for lack of a better option in the round of 16 vs Arsenal at the emirates if we make it that far. God save us because this management definitely won’t.

  4. Without servise Gimenez will strugle too. I think Milan needs more of a big/target man striker who can hold the ball and play with his back to goal. Our mid just doesn’t connects with our strikers.

    1. We really lack creativity in the middle. Reijnders, Fofana, Musah, RLC are runners and ball carriers. We’ve seen many times this season they don’t have a clue what to do against low block teams when attacking, just a bunch of horizontal passes and hope Leao or Puli will pull something out.

      1. To be fair, even the Milan of Ancelotti struggled against a low block team …

We don’t have ballers in tight spaces to unlock defenses like that …

  5. I can’t stop being happy since I heard Morata should leave. I don’t even care if they replace him with Gimenez, David, Felix or Zirkzee.
