AC Milan, in the past few minutes, have sent an official bid to Liverpool for Joe Gomez, according to recent reports.
There has been a need to act quickly this week with the mercato ending. Several ideas have been explored, and in defence, this has been shown again. In last weekend’s summit, Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare agreed that a new defender was needed.

A few names have been mentioned, but as we entered the weekend, it seemed that Manuel Akanji could be the one to arrive, after Manchester City accepted a bid for the Swiss defender. However, he rejected a move last night.
Moving quickly
Since then, contacts and ideas have been flying, though the Rossoneri had a preference for Liverpool’s Joe Gomez. Now, Fabrizio Romano reports that ‘an official bid’ has been sent to the Merseyside club.
The deal, as the journalist states, would be a permanent one with terms being discussed currently. There is a caveat, though. Things will be reliant on Liverpool’s own defensive ideas, where Marc Guehi is the favoured option.
Reports from England suggest that things are progressing with that move, which the Diavolo will hope continues. Gomez is not the only idea, but he is the favoured choice, so it remains to be seen what emerges from this latest round of talks.

Its happens if you only try to sign young player without strong reference at each department. In last 3-4 years we dont have strong character s like Kjaer.
Gomez is veteran, but he is not ‘that’ person. He is not a leader in Defensive line. I hope that i am wrong
This is crazy, this guy is always injured and when not injured he is not even that good. What is it with us always going after injury ravaged players, I understand we are looking for cheap deals, but we need players who will actually play, not sit in the treatment room getting paid millions ??!!

I’m not as opposed to the player as many here are, but I don’t think he’s the leader at the back we need. He’s always had Van Dyck alongside him as his defensive leader and IMO we need someone capable of giving instructions, not just tackles and interceptions.
His body type is perfect for Serie A though. He can also play every position in the back.
We seem to want to pay similar fees for the next Tomori rather than the top Italian defenders. Buongiurno is the one that got away, clearly superior to Pavlovic.

Jimenez was late to few trainings and Allegri didn’t like his discipline, so yeah very „hardworking”.

This guy is not bad, but ask any Liverpool fan and injuries are his problem. Anyway, did’t expect Akanji since the first offer was “hey, we really want you but we want you to reduce your wages”. And the guy would cost only 15M€. Pay him 6M€ per season, worth it.

i don’t understand why Milan want to sign the player like him. His experiences are at the bench not field. He was just a sub too. We cannot trust our defend to player like this. Bad scout.
Stupid management! Why don’t they sign an experienced defender like Maldini sign Kjaer, to provide leadership at the back, a mentor like Modric in the midfield as a leader.

If we are after injury prone players we should sign Tomiyasu. His available on a free transfer. He returns from injury in Oct. 26 years old, able to play RB or back 3. Proven serie A experience.
Yeah thats a good point. both are injury prone. Both similar age. Both can play CB or RB. Neither are particularly brilliant signings but useful for squad.
However, one has Serie A experience, can speak Italian and is available on a free! The other costs more with no exposure to the league. It should be a no brainer, yet the management pick the worse option.

These Americans have ruined our club. No big club revamps their entire squad every 6 months. Tare and Allegri are not on the same wavelength. It’s been troubling Mercato so far.
This management is so stupid. This guy is garbage, and he’s injured all the time, to boot. Is this all we get now? Injury-prone garbage.
Liverpool fan here. Really hope we don’t sell. Yes he’s always injured, but has been a solid backup when needed. If it wasn’t for injuries he could have been something else. Last season when needed he still looked good. Maybe the English league is too rough (especially for a Liverpool player) and with better protection from refs he’d have less injuries?
