Samuele Ricci of Italy

CM: Milan serious about Ricci – talks begin as Torino identify replacement

AC Milan seem to be serious about signing Samuele Ricci from Torino, and there have been contacts in recent days ahead of January.

According to Calciomercato.com, Ricci is being followed by several top clubs and in January his name could be in the headlines a lot. He is the midfielder of the future of the Italian national team, and the one Luciano Spalletti is strongly banking on.

The club most interested in Serie A – because Ricci is also popular abroad too – is Milan. The directors would like him to sign as early as January as a deputy to Youssouf Fofana but also a versatile option who could even become a start.

For now there have been some initial exploratory contacts but nothing more. The midfielder’s contract expires in June 2026 and for Torino they do not see him as unsellable, even if they will only consider a big offer.

Torino have already identified the replacement: Matteo Prati of Cagliari. The Granata are convinced of his qualities and that he can become the ideal replacement for Ricci in the event of the sale of the former Empoli man.

The fact that Milan are in talks and Il Toro are already thinking of potential replacements suggests that the gears are moving, be it for January or in view of the summer.

  1. damn, if they pull this off with Fagioli, without sacrificing Tomori that would be a rare masterclass from the management… or go for the experienced Pellegrino who would be easier after Ricci

    1. More nonsense.
How much cheaper would have been to keep a player that was suspended for a year, instead of cashing in and buying players that finished 2nd and qualified for the UCL without the need for another team to be docked points?
It would have been much cheaper playing last season without Bennacer and Tonali.
Where would have Milan finished without the rubbish that cost you Fortune in wages?
1 of them scored 10 goals last season, something Tonali can only dream of. Another 2 of that rubbish are your best and 2nd best player.
Perhaps it would have been much cheaper to keep Hakan and Kessie, 2 players much better than Tonali. Those 2 are way more needed at Milan than Tonali.

      1. I love your reply. I hope Tonali fans see this and stop comparing him with better players that were purchased from his sale. As you have said, it would have been better to keep Kessi and Challanoglu than Tonali. Imagine having those two in our present squad, we will be a much balanced team.

        1. Players that were purchased directly* from his sale are debatable (I can argue they used his money on Okafor, Flopwueze and RLC for instance much the same as saying they bought Puli and Whoever for the money to ‘make it look good’).
However, the better comparator would be to check the players that they put in his role after they sold him and they are nowhere near his level or live up to his contribution (not saying he’s super great). Who replaced his role? Musah and RLC? Lol laughable. Both flopped. So yea better to just have kept him because here we are looking for another player to fill that role in midfield.
But I do agree I’d keep Kessie and Hakan any day but our cheap Scaroni and Furlani didn’t want to spend higher on wages…so here we are spending on fees and cheap wages instead ..yet again

          1. Who replaced his role? How about Reijnders? Last summer we got both him and captain America (and other squad fillers, admittingly), and really only lost Tonali. Overall a plus.

          2. No. Don’t put it on the Management. Hakan and Kessie wanted $6M in wage to renew. Who would give them that much at that time? So they decided to leave for free. But Tonali is not as good as you want to make him look. We have great players in Reijnders, Pulisic, and co., but the we need a good coach, not Fonseca or Sarri. Even if I don’t like Alegri too much I would prefer him

          3. I disagree. First of all Tonali performed well for Milan for about 6months with the first 2 season being average at best. He mainly rotated with Benny and Kessie in a double pivot. Secondly, someone hired Fonseca who was free to decide players like RLC don’t fit in his team a year after they were purchased. Fonseca should be followed by the person that hired him. He also fall out with Hernandez and Leao and devalued Tomori. If he stayed Milan was going to be out of top 10 next year.

      2. rlc played cam meanwhile tonaly played cm and cdm his best season was 2 goals and 10 assist which rlc can dream of and he is better than fofana

        1. You are wasting your time explaning this stuff to people who don’t even understand positions and roles in football. Casuals think that only goals count and thats the only thing they value players on. RLC had 4-5 good games and was nowhere for the rest of the season. There is a Reason why Tonali was valued at 60mil and RLC at 20mil.

      3. Lol. Judging a defensive engine of a midfielder by goals..

‘Soccer’ aint for ya. Brainpower needed to understand it seems like a bit too much for ya mate. lol
        Try Bingo. lmfao

  2. We should take Matteo Prati from Cagliari. Don’t let Torino take players like Prati and resale them after two years for +30 milions .
If I was Milan owner I would take them both Ricci and Prati and I would sell Useless-Cheek and Bennacer.

  3. Doubt Milan spends that much on Ricci. He will likely end up at Inter on a loan with obligation. And Moncada will keep shopping in France.

Need another “hit” on the market, instead of another “?”

    1. It is unlikely Inter will get Ricci. The priority are a CB and a striker to replace Arna. It seems that the managent have been rejecting offers for Asllani, so Ricci does not seem to be in the plans.
