Sky: Milan seriously considering bringing Liberali back for €3m thanks to clause

AC Milan will give thought to the idea of bringing Mattia Liberali back to the club, according to a report.

Liberali rather surprisingly left Milan on a permanent basis to join Catanzaro in the summer mercato. As part of the deal to let him leave, the Rossoneri reserved a resale clause that could be useful in the future, perhaps sooner than they thought.

The return of Liberali?

Sky report that it will be a crucial week for Liberali’s future. Como remains ahead in negotiations having targeted the playmaker, but ‘watch out for Milan’ who are set to make a surprising comeback attempt.

The player has a €6m release clause, with a 50% resale right in favour of the Rossoneri, who could therefore sign him for €3m or negotiate a new deal with Catanzaro, potentially adding another player on loan.

After initially struggling a bit in Serie B, he emerged as a standout playmaker in the second half of the season. In the end, he scored four goals and added four assists in the 2025-26 season as Catanzaro came close to promotion.

The teenager is currently playing at the U19 European Championship with Milan’s Emanuele Sala and Christian Comotto, and he scored a goal today in their 2-0 win.

  1. Maignan (Torriani, Terracciano)-
    De Winter (Tomori), STONES (Gabbia),
    Pavlovic (AKE)- Saelemaekers (Athekame),
    HJULMAND (Modric, Bondo), Rabiot
    (Ardon, Comotto), DORGU (Bartesaghi)-
    LIBERALI (Chukwueze), Pulisic (CHIESA,
    AMLC/LW)- RAMOS (LUKAKU, Camarda);

    1. You play too much of Career mode or whatever bs there is. Lukaku and Dorgu? Have you watch them in the past year minimum? Lukaku cant finish his chanches to save his life and Dorgu didnt even played under Amorim in ManUTD. Btw, that same Dorgu has average of 10 lost possesions PER game. 10!! And you want him here? Please..

      1. “Have you watchED (them)”, “didn’t even PLAY”.
Who(m) would you bring instead? We need one more striker besides Ramos (and Camarda) for
a backup, that’s for sure. Sorloth? That “track” cooled off lately, nobody mentions that name anymore. Who could be a (new) left wing-back? Surely not Grimaldo since he will join Atletico, otherwise, he would be a perfect pick for ACM. Well? Ruggeri? Udogie? Tavares? Some Spanish
left wing-back (or Amorim’s compatriot as well) perhaps? So many players come to mind here, Dorgu was just one of them i.e. one of many…

        1. instead of Dorgu

          1. Milanese I believe you your job must be scouting you do talent for that job i saw other lists you posted here you are far better than most serie a scouting even though they are getting millions

          2. Moise Kean with a price tag of 40+ million euros? Appreciate your response very much but there’s
a good reason I keep bringing up Lukaku, Chiesa, Icardi and such older names even though you lot seem to consider them washed up and way past their peak and I think it won’t be so hard at all to guess what that reason is, it’s self-explanatory. If, on the other hand, the owner actually plans to spend 250+ million this summer and to keep the vast majority of the stars of the club at the same time, well then, that changes everything because that would be a completely different tune in itself.

          1. And where people don’t give two sh!ts about spell checking on a news aggregator. But, whatever people need to do to feel good about themselves.

        1. The only issue with Stones is his medical record which worries me as well, I’ll admit. What other objections can you make, what else do you have other than that? And why is Lukaku so debatable? Let me know in your comment(s) LOL If we stay on a limited budget i.e. less than cca 150 million, we just won’t be able to spend (it) on players some of you are suggesting because that won’t be enough, think of something more creative and constructive, it’s always much easier to attack a (laid out) plan than to genuinely come up with a better solution…

          1. Brother, neither of us are planning Milan’s transfers, Jorge Mendes is. Why you spend so much time pretending you do is bewildering to everyone.

For the record, I do not want Stone or Lukaku because they are both spent forces, well into their 30’s. I have about the same chance of staying fit for a season as they do.

Stones would be yet another example of Milan buying an EPL reject and hoping for the best and Lukaku is a CF who is no longer capable of scoring goals. Hope that’s all crystal.

      1. OK, now you are reacting. This is one of many versions of the squad but you decided to stay
quiet until you saw this. Ake is still way better
than Odogu (it’s not like he’d be an important member of the squad, he wouldn’t and that’s exactly what makes him an ideal fit for what
we need), I know you are objecting to their
age and physical condition but we’ll just have
to make some small sacrificies and sell some players like Nkunku and Santi (funny calling
that a sacrifice) and bring cheaper but more experienced solutions accustomed to Serie A.
Also, pretty much everyone here thought that Zaniolo’s career went down the drain at some point, now the tide has turned and many of
you wish him to sign, why wouldn’t Chiesa’s
revival be another example of a comeback?
        Chiesa 29, Ake 31, Stones 32 and Lukaku 33,
are they really that old? Most of the people
in this section had nothing against Goretzka despite him being 31, surelly you remember
that. The only problem i.e. the only obstacle
here is something else entirely, we (almost
certainly) won’t sign none of those players
because Amorim has other names in mind.
Of course, you could also say that the other tangible and relevant obstacle is the fact
that they’re not Mendes’s clients but such
things shouldn’t dictate our transfer policy.

  2. Liberali hold all of the cards. Milan can want whatever they want if the player doesn’t want to come back Milan have no say in the matter.
He didin’t want to renew and wanted to leave last summer. Amorim would have to guarantee him a starting spot for Liberali to do a whole 180 and come back to the club that he chose to leave just 12 months ago.
I hope he is back but I wouldn’t hold my breath based on how things developed before he left

    1. youre wrong if there is a buy back clause they can activate and he insta come back if there is he has no say if he wants Como

      1. If he is smart, he would choose COMO. It is a better run team playing good football with young talents and they are in Europe.

  3. Would just be a right move. Use Cisse and Liberali as backups of Nkunku and Pulisic. Be brave with young players. I think Cisse has a higher ceeling than Liberali.

  4. I wouldn’t blame him if he chooses Como. It was a sh*thousery with previous management. But I would relish the opportunity to see him back in our colors. Him and maybe Cisse as alternatives to Pulišić and Nkunku.

    1. I thought the same. Co to Como and play or come to Milan and pray it goes better than last time?

I’d love it to happen but let’s see

  5. If we dont go for Zaniolo he would be a great backup to the right of the two attacking midfielders.

With Europa league and coppa italia there will be plenty of minutes to go around

  6. If we are patient and he can put on weight while keeping his technique and speed (I.e. he has the time to develop and actually does) this would be great.

Given he is home grown and the price is 3m, it seems like a reasonable gamble.

Too bad we don’t have a Futuro where he could grow.

  7. Please liberali dont go home to milan at least for while. Isnt not good environment for while… Go to the place where yo have play guarantee…

  8. Moretto: “Mattia Liberali left AC Milan because of certain internal assessments; there were figures within the club who didn’t see first-team potential in him. Those figures are still there. It will be a surprise if Liberali returned to Milan.”

    Big nose and his lover?

    1. You would keep Estupinan? 🙂 How come is it that you insist on Zalewski although there hasn’t been any talk about him?

        1. And I don’t mind it at all, thank you! This is not my mother tongue either and some mistakes are to be expected every now and then, they are practically bound to happen. So it’s either “how is it that you insist” or “how come (that) you insist”, am I right?
A comma isn’t so necessary at all, think about it.
