Milan set to field a very young starting XI against Spezia – just one player over 26

AC Milan are set to field a very youthful starting XI for the game against Spezia at San Siro on Sunday evening.

According to the latest reports, there will only be two players above the age of 25 who will start for the Rossoneri against the Serie A newcomers: Rade Krunic and Simon Kjaer, with the latter being the only player over 30.

In terms of the rest of the starting XI, only players born between 1996 and 2002 will play. The youngest on the pitch should be Lorenzo Colombo, an 18-year-old striker from the Rossoneri Primavera.

There will also be room for other prospective talents such as Rafael Leao, Alexis Saelemaekers and Brahim Diaz – all of whom are 21 – without forgetting Sandro Tonali who is just 20. Then there is Matteo Gabbia (20), Theo Hernandez (22).

Through the first two rounds of Serie A, Milan had the youngest team by average age of starting XI (24 years and 89 days). Cagliari are second (25y128d).
