AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have a clear vision in mind with regards to the attacking midfielder role, a report claims.
Despite winning the Scudetto last season, there will be some overhaul in the squad as Alessio Romagnoli is close to Lazio, Franck Kessié already has an agreement with Barcelona, Zlatan Ibrahimović’s future is uncertain, Renato Sanches and Sven Botman could both arrive from Lille and Divock Origi seems destined to join on a free transfer.
There will be some loan returns like Tommaso Pobega and Lorenzo Colombo who will need their futures resolving, while renewals like those of Sandro Tonali, Rafael Leao, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori, Ismael Bennacer and more will be tackled.
Regarding the playmaker role, PianetaMilan reports that Brahim Díaz will be kept for the second year of his loan from Real Madrid and Renato Sanches can also occupy that role, just as Kessie – the man he is replacing – did a few times last season.
The idea is also to give confidence to Yacine Adli who returns to the Rossoneri after his loan at Bordeaux and is a natural in the attacking midfielder role. Therefore, unless Ante Rebić is sold, it is possible that only one new forward is signed such as a right winger who can also cover the No.10 position.

Also, why don’t we try Diaz in the RW position? He’s to weak to be in the centre of the pitch so why not on the wing with his technical ability?

Nevertheless, I jump into the fray: How likely were we ever to spend money on AMC when we have Diaz, Adli and Sanches who can all play in this position? Origi is being brough in as a striker. So the only new attacking player will probably be a RW and it seems the mostly likely candidate is Lang. So the new arrivals will be Origi, Lang, Sanches and Botman (plus Adli and Pobega returning from loans). That’s it. That’s around a 70m spend, and given Milan’s frugality I think this makes sense. Sorry if this isn’t Nkunku/CDK/Antony/God, but Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is Milan.
And no use speculating about Investcorp, because if they were so rich then they wouldn’t have financed any part of their deal and you’d be hearing how they’re now looking at other clubs, which they’re not to my knowledge, so I doubt things would be incredibly different. I think Diaz should go, he is not strong enough to wear the number 10 for us, Rebic should be given one last chance..
