Milan squad go over to away fans after second half capitulation in Lecce

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s poor league form continued as they dropped points against Lecce this afternoon in a game that they led 2-0 at half-time.

Things were going well at the break after Olivier Giroud and Tijjani Reijnders scored to put Milan in a commanding position, but Nicola Sansone and Lameck Banda each netted inside three minutes to earn the home team a draw.

After the game the travelling Milan support made their displeasure known as the Rossoneri failed to take advantage of a winning position again and risk falling well behind in the title race.

The squad went over to acknowledge the away fans with some of them appearing apologetic after the second half collapse, which followed one against Napoli, in addition to 1-0 home losses against Juventus and Udinese.

Several players stood with hands on hips staring into the crowd, a scene not too dissimilar to the 2-0 loss against Spezia last season when the team had to answer to an unhappy fan base.

    1. I think Pulisic will recover for that though. Actually, he must so we at least could dream about 3 points… Without him… Zero chance.

    1. He doesn’t have the balls to take accountability. I think injuries are ruining our momentum, but you as a manager have to make amendments with what you have. His substitutions have been really poor, and it’s not just 1 or games, it has been the case for a long time now. I am just tired of this “we were good for 60 minutes bull$hit”. Now we will have to stick with playing a front three of Chukwueze-Jovic-Okafor against a team like Florentina.

      1. Jovic, FFS! You ruined the match already by saying/reminding that he’ll play as the starter! That’ll be a certain defeat. F***!!! Jovic makes me miss Origi & CDK.

      2. you know its not the injuries when we have the “main 11” on field and they still play like cr@p.
Not today tho, today they did good with the subs until they didnt. Thats the issue tho isnt it. Cant focus for 90min.
Pioli gotta go if we want to play Cl next season.

        1. One more thing to highlight here. We are very vulnerable against set pieces. We conceded the same goal today that we conceded against PSG. Furthermore, we need to do something about this otherwise other managers will use this against us. I think we play better with Pulisic and Loftus Cheek in the lineup, but both of them have a history of short term and long term injuries. It’s just what many influential people say a game of football is of 90 minutes and a team must be fully focused each and every second of that time period, but sometimes I see us losing momentum as soon as we concede a goal. Just my opinion, but we should look at the prospect of signing Gallardo or Arne Slot as our next manager, I know they will take us to the next level i.e. the post Pioli era.

  1. Capello said it before…the reason why Milan is not the finished article is that every time a team breaks it results in a shot on goal…very frustrating that keeping clean sheets is such a mission for us. For how long must fans deal with this capitulation when least expected.
