‘You know I love you’ – Pioli and Milan squad send farewell messages to Giroud

Olivier Giroud officially announced today that he will be leaving AC Milan at the end of the season once his contract expires, and all of his team-mates sent messages to him.

Giroud arrived at Milan in the summer of 2021 from Chelsea and he was meant to be a back-up to Zlatan Ibrahimovic though he quickly carved out a leading role and became a fan favourite.

His record at the moment reads 130 appearances, 48 ​​goals and 19 assists, which demonstrates just how much he has contributed to the recent resurgence which culminated in the 2021-22 Scudetto and the Champions League semi-final last season.

After three years of emotions, the paths of Milan and Giroud will part ways at the end of this season and he is expected to make the move to Los Angeles FC.

The striker gave an interview to Milan TV which we translated in full, but as part of the show that was broadcast the interviewer showed Giroud some messages from his team-mates.

Calabria: “Hey Oli, I hoped that this moment wouldn’t come. You’ve given so much to this team, to this group and to me. It has been a privilege, I will always remember it.”

Theo: “Hey Oli. This is a message to say thank you for all you’ve done for this Milan team. I could say lots of things. I hope to see you soon, definitely on international duty.”

Thiaw: “You didn’t know be, but you still acted like a normal guy. I’m really thankful for all the duels in training, I think that was one of the reasons I got better here.”

Musah: “I remember going to the Emirates as a kid to see you play. To do it together is a dream come true, I wish you all the best.”

Pulisic: “I feel like I’ve learned so much thanks to you and we’ve had an amazing connection on the pitch.”

Bennacer: “I’d heard lots about you, but you are even better than what everyone said. Even in 10 or 20 years I hope to call you and you call me. Bye Oli, I’ll miss you.”

Okafor: “It was really a pleasure to play with you, the help you gave to me, I learnt a real lot from you. You are such a good guy, a good man, a good father.”

Gabbia: “Hey old kangaroo! You are a fantastic person, a world champion and you’ll be forever in our hearts. I love you and send you a big hug. Good luck in your next experience.”

Loftus-Cheek: “You’re an example. Someone who looks after themselves, their body, their mind. A top professional and a top player, also as a person. I wish you all the best, I’m sure you’ll play another 10 years.”

Sportiello: “You are a great champion.”

Florenzi: “Hi president. Thanks for all the wins.”

Reijnders: “Hi, Giroud, my friend. It was an honour for me to give you my first assist here at AC Milan. A big hug.”

Pobega: “You always show the right attitude and desire to win. That’s why you’ve won so much and it will give you more success in the future.”

Chukwueze: “Hi Oli. You motivate me a lot, playing at 37, I think it’s not easy.”

Tomori: “Obviously I can’t forget the Scudetto year when you scored all those important goals for us. All the best Oli man.”

Pioli: “I’m proud to have worked with you, it’s been a privilege and an honour. Sending hugs, thank you and you know I love you. You are special, a big hug.”
