The agent of Strahinja Pavlovic arrived at Casa Milan for a meeting with the AC Milan management on Thursday afternoon, and the club’s stance has emerged.
It has been a whirlwind last few days for Pavlovic, starting with rumours of concrete interest from Fenerbahce and an offer worth over €20m, when factoring in the loan fee and the obligation to buy.
The Rossoneri management had apparently reached an advanced stage in the negotiations, before receiving a refusal from the Serbian centre-back, eager to continue his experience at Milan and play for a spot in the team.
Pavlovic was then in the starting line-up against Girona last night and he played an attentive game against the LaLiga side, helping secure a first clean sheet since Sergio Conceicao took over.
The agent arrives
Despite the above, Pavlovic’s future is not 100% certain to be at Milan. According to what has been learned by our correspondent Luca Maninetti, the agent of the former Red Bull Salzburg man has arrived to meet the directors.
Milan’s stance is clear: they will only accept a permanent deal for Pavlovic and an offer over €15m at present. It remains to be seen if the management will open to the idea of a loan with obligation to buy, otherwise he will remain at the club.
It is believed that new enquiries have come from other clubs abroad, with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga mentioned by numerous sources and also Leicester City in the Premier League.
Given that the 23-year-old only started last night due to Malick Thiaw’s injury and Fikayo Tomori’s suspension, it might not be the case that the exit door is fully closed despite a good performance.
If they can get €20m+ they should sell him. He can help us but he hasn’t played much and we have enough quality at the position. We can put those funds towards other areas of need.
“He can help us but he hasn’t played much and we have enough quality at the position.”
Enough quality? 3 CBs is enough? And one of them is injured ATM. Sure. More than plenty. 😀 😀 😀 😀
This would be a really bad decision to sell him. He has a ton of potential, just needs a little time. Don’t sign young players if you are not going to give them time to develop.
“Don’t sign young players if you are not going to give them time to develop.” no more words needed. Even for us, fans, young players make mistakes. be ok with it.
With good coaching, plus giving him confidence, Pavlovic could exceed all other defenders. And what a weapon in front of goal on corners! Put Tomori at fullback. Fullbacks should hold their position at back. Move Theo to halfback behind Leo. Poor teams break on Milan so easily with absent fullbacks. Pulisic can put ball on P’s head on corner. That’s what caused the push and penalty.
The better reason for not letting him go, at least in January, is that we’ll be down to three senior CBs. We just played a game where two of the current four were unavailable. Who will replace him? What happens if one of the remaining three goes down with an injury and another is suspended, or two go down with injuries? Then who will play next to the remaining senior CB? Bartesaghi? It seems like we’re hell bent on sabotaging ourselves.
It was big mistake not investing in Buongiorno
There is big rumour mill in England about Tomori enquiries. Aston Villa is one of many who would buy him…
Buongiorno Tomori would be strong pair and with English clubs circling around, Milan would catch decent fee for him.
What actually happened we lost Kalulu for much lower fee. And now we have 4 centre backs, without world class description in them.
I don’t understand why you would want to get rid of him. Currently it’s gabbia>thiaw>pavlovic>tomori.
Whenever tomori has played we have been caught out so many times and he makes his partners around him look weak. Just because he’s fast doesn’t mean anything. Whenever gabbia had played with thiaw and pavlovic they have looked solid so what’s the common denominator here?
Pavlovic hasn’t made more mistakes than any other cb this season and he was a rock last night. Makes great tackles and stops so many key passes and dribbles. Absolutely against this sale.
And Moncada is reportedly interested in Disasi from Chelsea. Wouldn’t surprise me if they decide to send Pavlo away for that reject. It’s all the wrong moves with these clowns.
Piano needs time. 6 mo’s into a tough league for foreign defenders ain’t $hit.
If you watch last Milan game, he’s one of the best player on the pitch. He’s left footed and have the attribute that tomori / thiaw has not. Would be a big loss if Milan sold him..
If they sell this foo, then, whoever signed him should be fired immediately as well.
You sign a defender from other league for over 20 million and you wanna sell him after 6 month without even giving him time and opportunity to develop??
How we have enough quality in defense?
Thiaw+Tomori+Gabbia??? Is this quality stack?
Thiaw already has injury record….
I wouldn’t even trust my sh*t to Tomori. He may play one good game and comfortably proceed to screw up the next 5 games.
Gabbia can’t play 50+ games each season.
How about potential suspensions, tiredness and injuries among these 3?
I am telling you these people are not qualified to run a football club
