June should have been the start of AC Milan’s rebuild at management level, yet one week into the month no gaps have been filled.
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, this is a time when Milan – coming off a profoundly disappointing season – should have laid the foundations for its relaunch through a clear, defined, and cohesive structure.

Instead, just weeks before the start of the new season, the picture emerging around the Rossoneri club continues to be characterised by doubts and a worrying lack of certainty.
A total standstill
The feeling is that AC Milan are experiencing one of the most delicate phases in their recent history. After days of deliberation, meetings, and evaluations, none of the figures considered strategic to the club’s future have yet definitively resolved their reservations.
From coaches to executives, including those identified to strengthen the sporting department, the common denominator seems to be one: the Rossoneri’s difficulty convincing its various stakeholders to unanimously agree.
Those contacted by the acting Milan management have asked for specific guarantees regarding the future, the composition of the hierarchy and transfer strategies. These are legitimate questions to which, evidently, the club has not yet been able to provide fully convincing answers.
The result is a stalemate that risks further slowing down the planning process. While several rival clubs have already finalised their managerial structures and are working on building their squads for next season, Milan risk being left behind and without an identity.
Pay attention to the pitch, too, because this situation spills over there. Mike Maignan could leave the club despite the contract renewal he signed last January, which runs until June 2031. Then there are the cases of Adrien Rabiot and Luke Modric, which will need to be decided.
Other players like Youssouf Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also at risk, and then there’s Rafael Leao who chose to go public with his displeasure. The next few weeks will be crucial: decisions are needed and a vision must be agreed upon by everyone. Otherwise, the rot could further set in.
Cardinale is the boss, he doesn’t need Ibrahimovic’s approval so this collective vision theory is nonsense. The World Cup is the reason things are complicated. It’s not a good idea to sign a coach before a SD is on board. My guess is Glasner arrives this week. They know they must have things in place before the World Cup, otherwise the entire pre-season will be a disaster.
What was the excuse last season then, when there was no world cup to prevent their “collective vision” …
