CM: How Milan’s market strategy clearly differs from rivals Inter and Juventus

AC Milan have chosen to adopt a different strategy to their rivals Inter and Juventus in terms of philosophy and how that guides their actions on the transfer market.

Calciomercato.com writes how after welcoming the 22-year-old Yacine Adli following the conclusion of his loan at Bordeaux, the Rossoneri will also add the 21-year-old Charles De Ketelaere into the fold, so the club now has two potential starters for the next few years that will further lower the average age of the squad.

Milan’s average squad age was 25.8 years last season for the Scudetto win and has now lowered again with the two aforementioned signings, with Divock Origi (27) acting only as a slight counterbalance. Juventus’ average age in 2021-22 was 26.8 and that of Inter was 28.9.

Inter have signed the 33-year-old Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the 29-year-old Romelu Lukaku to while Juventus have turned to Paul Pogba who is 29 (and is struggling with a serious injury) and Angel Di Maria who is 34.

The Italian champions are focusing against on youth showing that the strategy of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara is different from the competition, with a ‘cultural’ difference evident with respect to rivals. Adli and a De Ketelaere join Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Tonali, Bennacer and Leao in forming part of an exciting core.
