Tuttosport: Two certainties, an exit and three additions – Milan’s strategy for the midfield

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management are at work programming the midfield for next season and at the moment there are actually only two certainties, a report claims.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, the two guarantees that Milan have heading into 2022-23 are Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer, who have both shown their intensity and quality in games this season and are tied down to long contracts.

The pair will help to make up for the absence of Franck Kessie who – in addition to being inconsistent this season – is ready to say goodbye at the end of the season when his contract expires. The Italian and the Algeria are proving that they can play great games even without the Ivorian’s contribution, with dynamism and aggression rather than the same physicality.

Tommaso Pobega meanwhile will return to Milanello to stay this time after his loan at Torino, while Yacine Adli – who was bought and then loaned back to Bordeaux until June – will guarantee more solutions in the midfield and also in the playmaker role.

Renato Sanches remains Milan’s first choice target because a new signing will also arrive in addition to the loanee returns. The negotiation with Lille has not yet taken off, but there are all the conditions to get the operation done.
