It is no secret now that the Rossoneri are also hoping to add a right-back (Zachary Athekame of Young Boys is very close) and a new striker. However, work must be done to offload those not deemed part of the plans, as MilanNews reports.
Squad to be streamlined
Currently, the squad has nine midfielders, 10 if we also include Christian Pulisic, as a potential mezzala in a 3-5-2. Assuming there will be three starters, plus three alternatives, it goes without saying that they will try to sell three players in the coming weeks.
Yacine Adli and Ismael Bennacer’s fate is already sealed. There was no shortage of offers, but the Frenchman turned down Russia, the Algerian Saudi Arabia. Both essentially ruined deals that would have brought in about €30m or even more.
The third exit could be Warren Bondo, who Cremonese are interested in, guaranteeing him a starting spot while Milan would retain ownership. The Rossoneri invested €10m to get him in the winter, but are conscious he needs minutes to develop.
The possibility of Yunus Musah staying is becoming increasingly concrete. Napoli could return to him if the Miretti deal falls through, but the impression is that Massimiliano Allegri is becoming convinced of his qualities.
Thus, the €25m that could have been accepted a month ago might not even be enough. The coach has already stated his desire to relaunch Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has been making an impact in pre-season, and Youssouf Fofana who can provide balance.

Why for me it makes sense to sell Musah for Guerra is that next year we are potentially looking another overhaul in midfield (Modric can leave after his first year, Musah and RLC are big ifs)… If Bondo develops at Serie A club and we have Guerra already, we would only need 1 player…
I would have tbh tried Savona, Miretti and Vlahovic package from Juve (50-55M combined deal). Musah sale + the budget we have for ST and RB would have been enough…
before people start crying that we are helping Juve, true; but we are getting 2 quality ITALIAN players who were scouted by top teams and Vlahovic already is a target… on top of that Miretti can play as LM, so the versatility that Musah brought wouldn’t be lost…
RLC performance is fitness related… if he is healthy I think he can do a good job. Musah is a big question mark and if his transfer fee is what we need to buy a decent striker I would sacrifice him

staying in Valencia definitely won’t help him develop… Atletico, Real and Barca have midfielders already… United are fixed on Sesko and need a keeper, even they don’t have unlimited budget…
Conte wants Musah and Allegri wants Musah. I highly doubt these two top coaches think Musah lacks intelligence. He’s only 22yrs old and has the ability and talent to develop into a very good player.
Unfortunately for Musah none of our previous coaches have done him any good. From Pioli to Fonseca to Conceição all played him out of position or they couldn’t find a position for him to play consistently.
So it’s not all his fault why he hasn’t performed well. Musah has the talent and I am curious to see where Allegri plays him and how he will develop him.

I thought this was the plan but with Saelemakers, Jimenez and the new guy it seems not.
Musah will never get minutes if he stays. Looking at the current midfield and with only one game per week, he will never set foot on the pitch. There is no place for him in the RB or even RW positions, those positions are well covered. What these outcasts need is minutes, and not staying and fighting for a spot. They really need to do a reality check, players need to play.
Guys get hurt, guys need rest. Modric is 40. He’s not playing 90 mins x 38 games regardless. Goodness knows RLC will likely be out for multiple stretches.
Best case scenario is that Allegri has a specific role in mind for Musah. Maybe even a specific in game scenario where he feels like YM is the best choice of subs to do a job….closing out games with a lead as a defensive mid. Pressing a specific opponent. Whatever.
Let’s see. Not everyone has to be a starter to make a valuable contribution to the team.

Even though we are having a good transfer window for midfielders, I’m not sure if we are doing the best decision for the future. Adli and Bennacer got to go no matter what, but i would much more preffer to loan bondo tha sell him. Considering that modric wont be here for too long, we expect our future midfield beeing made by Ricci, Jashari and Fofana. A fit Loftus cheek and a more developed Bondo are two really good options for the bench in the future, Bondo is still young, just needs time. The only reason I can see to keep Musah its to increase his value this year and sell him for more next year. RLC is not that young and reliable so I do expect next year to sign another bench midfielder. This season, playing only at a country level, we are fine with modric, Ricci and Jashari as startes with Musah, RLC and Fofana from the bench
Musah could use being coached by a single established coach who can play him in a consistent role to bring the best out of him. The question is, do Milan have the time, the commitment and the desire to develop him?
I’ve always said, that that Conte asking for him should be a warning sign for us.
