It is almost a certainty that AC Milan will sign a striker this summer. However, the names suggested are not all of the same level, unfortunately.
As the summer mercato edges closer, Milan need to start making their choices certainties. Indeed, a proper plan is needed and a lunch between Massimiliano Allegri and Giorgio Furlani at Milanello yesterday is a nice start.
However, more must be done.
The big area of concern, or perhaps investment, is the striker spot. In recent years, the area has haunted the Rossoneri financially and from a sporting perspective. Now, it must be fixed.
The Eight
Gazzetta dello Sport, this morning, suggest that there are eight names being considered.
The first would be Moise Kean, who Allegri knows very well. The Italian would demand a high price (more than €60 million) and after this season, there can be debates about whether he’d be worth such a sum.
Nevertheless, the interest is strong and he is still young enough. It is a maybe.
Robert Lewandowski is another name requiring attention. His free agency this summer would be an attraction for the Rossoneri, but his wage would be high. If he wants to stay in Europe, the club would have a great chance, but beware of the American sirens.
Another on a similar line is Dusan Vlahovic, whose contract situation has long been discussed at Casa Milan. He has declined a little, but he is still a top-class option. His future is currently a mystery; it may be better to focus elsewhere.
Gabriel Jesus, Nicholas Jackson and Joshua Zirkzee follow. The trio are likely to move away from their Premier League top six homes in the summer and the Diavolo could smell a deal for one of them. The latter duo still have plenty of room for growth and could be better fits for Allegri’s system.
Gonzalo Garcia would be a different investment for the club. A youngster with the need for space to grow, he would fit the RedBird idea, less so the Allegri one. His salary shouldn’t be an issue and he could be a wildcard.
Finally, there is Goncalo Ramos, who will be offered to Milan again this summer. His agent Jorge Mendes is looking to make a deal happen, but at €5 million per season, it seems difficult to imagine…

Jackson is garbage and Lewandowski’s numbers show a clear decline, which is expected.
I don’t think Real Madrid will let Gonzalo Garcia leave, but it depends on their next coach.
Ramos is a good finisher, but Vlahovic is better. Also how is a €5 million salary an issue? It isn’t. The club’s finances are in good shape, €5-6 million a season isn’t going to be a problem as long as we get a UCL place. This is like the so called transfer limit all over again, you come up with abritary numbers when there aren’t any limits. If they really wanted to push the boat out and sign someone on €8 million a season, they would.
I don’t know that any of these names excite anyone…
Lewandowski will score goals in the team at least.
