CM: Milan strong admirers of striker who will soon receive Azzurri showcase

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have their eyes on striker Mateo Retegui and every football fan in Italy is about to learn his name, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report that Roberto Mancini will call Retegui up for the games against England and Malta later this month with Ciro Immobile injured and Giacomo Raspadori in serious doubt, which means the Azzurri are in a centre-forward crisis of sorts.

The 23-year-old is owned by Boca Juniors but is on loan at Tigre in the Argentine first division where he has 23 goals and 3 assists in 42 appearances, with 6 goals in his last 6 games to open the 2023 season.

Retegui is physically strong on the ground and in the air thanks to his stature, and Milan’s eyes are on him as they look for a centre-forward for the future, but Udinese are also keen. Francesco Totti had the idea of bringing him to Roma three years ago, but it never materialised.

The forward is drawing some comparisons to Carlitos Tevez who came off the field to hand Retegui his debut on November 17 back in 2018, a match won 1-0 against Patronato.

      1. Yeah, Im Dutch and yeah Huntelaar wasnt very fast aswell. I don get very hyped, when you are 23 and still play in Argentina there are reasons you arent bought sooner. Bring in a more proven name in a better league , Balogun or someone
