CM: Milan strongly interested in Empoli teenager but bid of over €15m will be needed

AC Milan’s management are always on the lookout for young talent abroad but also domestically, having targeted Mattia Viti of Empoli.

Calciomercato.com reports that among the main objectives for the summer transfer window is a starter-level central defender to be placed next to Fikayo Tomori – with Sven Botman the leading candidate – but the Rossoneri are also looking for a young defender to grow.

This is where Empoli’s 19-year-old centre-back Mattia Viti has captured their attention and this season under the guidance of head coach Andreazzoli he has racked up 16 appearances between league and cup.

He represents the ideal player for Milan’s project and in the next few months they could make a concrete assault, but Empoli’s idea is to resist the attempts from other teams and establish him as a starter next season.

It cannot be excluded that if a convincing offer were to arrive, the Azzurri could give the green light to his exit, with Fiorentina, Napoli and Sassuolo also chasing the defender. A higher bid than the €15m that Atalanta offered would most likely be needed, the report concludes.
