CM: Milan study two replacements as Chelsea prepare Maignan pursuit – the targets

With Mike Maignan being targeted by Chelsea, AC Milan need to find an apt replacement incase the Frenchman leaves.

It seems like it will be a summer of stars leaving for Milan, with Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez both being courted with high-value moves. However, they are not the only players who could depart. Added to that list could be Maignan, who has been a target for Europe’s elite for a few years now.

With his current contract not being extended yet, the chances of a departure are only increasing as the 2026 deadline looms. This week, Chelsea have begun to make the progress required to bring him to the club, in the knowledge of these issues.

So, the Rossoneri need to begin their own evaluations for a potential replacement. For Calciomercato.com, Daniele Longo reports that two names are being highlighted more than anyone else at Casa Milan; those are believed to be Marco Carnesecchi and Mile Svilar.

The Serie A duo are both liked after having great seasons for their respective clubs, Atalanta and Roma. However, it seems a move for the latter may be easier, due to his contract situation. Svilar’s deal expires in 2027, and there are believed to be difficulties with reaching an agreement to extend.

Failing to land either of the two, the Diavolo would also consider moves for Bart Verbruggen and Lucas Chevalier.

    1. Astute observation. Meret’s contract is also expiring this summer (unless he’s just agreed to an extension). I also think Torriani should be given a chance, particularly in a season without the pressures of European football.

  1. Carnesecchi is a good shout. Don’t think Roma let Svilar go. I’d keep Mike. I bet with a STRONGER defense he’d look even better.

Serie A is won by the tightest defenses. With Max here, Mike between the sticks and improved CB’s I don’t see how we wouldn’t become defensively stingy.

      1. Yes Chevalier is the successor to Maignan, for club and country. I will be impressed if we get him.

Carnesecchi also decent but I doubt they’d sell to a domestic rival (at a reasonable price)

      1. more like Meret will join $hinter and Gigi will go to Napoli, if not actually stay at PSG.

They won Scudetto and have Conte

Inter lost everything and are gonna lose Inzaghi (good replacements are basically non-existent)

  2. I think structural changes can cover for the losses of stars in the attack, but Goalkeeping can only be improved by bringing in a better talent. I do not get the issues with signing Magnion. Just sign the man. He is probably the finest shot stopper in the league and great with his feet. Yes he has occasional lapses on near post shots, but he is still a top 5-10 keeper in the world and he only wants $5MM??? Write the check and move on!

    1. The main reason is European competition. Didier basically tell them to go find bigger teams or they won’t play. Not too mentioned he’s annoyed the fact the Milan stall to much on his renewal

  3. I thought Milan will be filled with Italiano…. 🤣

Another prove Allergy was not good, still not believing in from our youth sector

  4. It hurts to see our stars leaving. It wouldn’t hurt as much if this management didn’t f** up for the last 2 seasons. It doesn’t inspire much confidence

  5. Tare or Milan no need studying everywhere. Our young GK like torriani / lapo Nava already have the talent. They just need play time in high level like Seri A. Homegrown player, cheap wage budget and Italian. Just like cardinale want it.

  6. Our young GK like torriani and Nava have the talent. They need just to play in highest level like Seri A. Cheap wage budget, homegrown player and Italian. Thats cardinale want it , remember ??

  7. Osea Theo… sigo postendo positivismo al Milan….. como minimo

Y gente aca sigue queriendo aue se vaya por reemplazos mas caros.
