Given Sergio Conceicao’s arrival at AC Milan it was just a matter of time before Porto players were linked, and Alan Varela is the latest.
It is well known that Milan are looking for a new central midfielder to bolster the depth in the department, given that Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders continue to start every game without getting a break.
This constant working of overtime has perhaps been a contributing factor in their decline in performances in the past few games. However, as Sky (via MilanNews) report, the main investment on a new midfielder seems to be geared towards the summer.
Indeed, the directors are looking at one of Conceicao’s old favourites in Alan Varela. He is a target for the summer, especially because at this stage it would be difficult to get a good deal with the Portuguese club.
This season Varela has taken to the field 21 times in total: 16 appearances in the league and five in the Europa League. During his time with Conceicao he made 43 appearances, also amassing three goals and two assists.
The 23-year-old predominantly plays as a defensive midfielder but can be used as a mezzala (box-to-box player) too. The report goes on to mention that Samuele Ricci of Torino is also a name that remains on the list.
Varela is expensive they can’t even dream about it
Going shopping in portugal is expensive. Most of their good players have silly buyout clause. We arent going to pay and Moncada prefers France so likelihood of it happening is slim to none.
What they wanted to write is, we’ll be getting a Temu version of Varela somewhere in France or Belgium.
Milan can be linked to 2,000 players but will not sign any of them😂
This coach is ready to go far with Milan if the managers will allow him,let pray he gets what he wants from the managers to help him succeed
