AC Milan did not end up signing Jean-Philippe Mateta on deadline day, so now they will look to land the right striker in the summer.

As Calciomercato.com report, the last 48 hours have seen practically everything happen. Milan agreed a deal worth over €30m with Crystal Palace for Mateta on the penultimate day of the window, but then in the last few hours they walked away following multiple consultations over knee issues.

Who now?

Massimiliano Allegri will have to make a virtue of necessity in this second half of the season. The attack is full of issues at present: Leao has pubalgia, Pulisic has iliopsoas bursitis, Fullkrug has a toe problem, Gimenez has an ankle problem, and Nkunku is still adapting to Serie A.

The Rossoneri management are working on a striker for the summer and the name at the top of the list remains Dusan Vlahovic, who will leave Juventus in July upon the expiration of his contract. The issue is that his entourage are asking for €10m in commissions, making it far from a ‘free transfer’.

Joaquin Panichelli is seen as a highly intriguing prospect by Milan too. He has 11 goals in 20 Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg this season. Milan have already contacted the Argentine’s agents and knows they will also need to speak with Chelsea, who have a say given the multi-club model.

Particular attention is also being paid to the movement surrounding Moise Kean. The Italian striker is set to leave Fiorentina this summer and is a top choice for Allegri, who would have been happy to welcome him in the winter. However, some big offers could come from Saudi Arabia.

    1. I’m surprised by this. Kean has been inconsistent his whole career. That’s why he’s been at quite a few clubs already. But you arent the only one thinking Kean > vlahovic. My take is, i know right now we have a crisis. but we only have a handful of games. I know we dream of a title but top 4 was the real goal. I rather do a cold headed assessment for the summer than rush a purchase in January.

      1. If milan want No9….on market now they can’t find satisfying player. Simply no one want to sell in mid of season.

      1. we need a regista and Stiller isn’t coming… if you watch games and not just Transfermarkt, you can clearly see how good he has been this season…

Well, show me a proven striker whose transfer fee is ~10M€ then if this is an “issue”. 😀

    1. And Vlahovic wants his 12m per year salary. I don’t think he will arrive this summer. They will gamble on another striker with no Serie A experience.

With all the money Milan spent on strikers we could have easily signed Oshimen with the 35m for Gimenez and the 40m for Nkunku. How crazy is that? Smh

      1. The off-the-field drama comes free a that price? What about the locker room disruptions? Alex Jimenez was sent off for less.
