Bologna starlet plays down links to Milan – admits he will ‘think about the future’

Mattias Svanberg

Mattias Svanberg has played down reports linking him with a move away from Bologna, with Milan highlighted as a potential suitor for the midfielder.

Svanberg has become a dependable figure in Bologna’s midfield since joining the club in 2018, leading to speculation regarding the future of the 23-year-old moving forward.

Speaking in a presser ahead of Bologna’s clash with Milan on Monday (quoted by MilanNews) Svanberg remained coy about a link to the Rossoneri: “Rumors about Milan? I hadn’t spoken to anyone.

“Now I’m focused on the present and on the last matches to do well with Bologna, then I’ll think about the future,” He added, seemingly admitting that he will consider life after Bologna following the season’s end.

Svanberg is a full Sweden international having been capped 18 times for his country so far and has impressed as a creative spark in Bologna’s midfield this season, chipping in with three goals and two assists so far from 28 league games.

And with Milan likely to sign a midfielder this summer, Svanberg presents an alternative option to more popular  targets.
