AC Milan are in the market for a new centre-back and they have identified their number one target for the January transfer window, according to a report.
The season-ending injury sustained by Simon Kjaer means that the Rossoneri want some defensive cover given they only have Tomori, Romagnoli and Gabbia as natural centre-back options, even if Kalulu can fill in there if needed. A number of targets have been linked, but the same name from France keeps popping up.
According to La Repubblica (via MilanNews), Milan’s main goal when the window opens again at the start of January is indeed to bolster the defence and their main target in that hunt is Sven Botman of Lille.
The Netherlands international has a rather high valuation of €30m given his age (21) and his high potential, and Milan must also be wary of the fact that the very wealthy Newcastle United are also after him.

Unless Lille is willing to part with him on Loan with an option to buy with a 99.76% discount, this will never happen.
Gone are the days when AC Milan just opened bags of money and brought whoever they wanted. We neither have the reputation we had back then, nor do we have owners willing to invest in good, reliable players.

Tomori came with the loan+buy formula. Milan will not splash 30M€ just like that. They want the loan option to minimize the risks.

This guy is not as proven as you all think. For the moment hes not carded much, but his style of defence is sadly too aggressive for modern rules.
He could be a next Vidic but could also bomb. For the moment Bremer is better for us. Cheaper. More physically powerful which compliments 183 i think Tomori. Can advance play from the back.
Botman is hype becouse he is decent, 21 and from Netherlands. Ilya Zabarnyi (hard name to remember) is playing in Ukraine NT and Cl since he was 19.
If he were from Netherlands and playing in Lille not Dinamo, he would cost 3 times more.
Better risk with players from Eastern markets. Borussia, Inter and us in the past have had a great success with those.
Id rather sign that Dinamo guy for 15 than Botman for 30 if we cannot have a loan.
