AC Milan have met with Oliver Glasner to discuss the head coach role, and it seems that the discussions went well.
The first face-to-face meeting between the incumbent Milan management and Glasner was eagerly awaited, after the Austrian bid farewell to Crystal Palace after an extraordinary campaign that concluded with the UEFA Conference League final win over Rayo Vallecano.

Glasner is one of the candidates being evaluated by Gerry Cardinale, Massimo Calvelli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to succeed Massimiliano Allegri as AC Milan coach. Calciomercato.com confirm that a discussion took place face-to-face on Tuesday.
More to follow
The meeting took place on June 2nd as scheduled, outside Italy. It was a dialogue defined as informative, but nonetheless positive and in which a good harmony between the parties emerged.
The first talks ended with a smile but nothing definitive, but this first face-to-face meeting is expected to be followed by others in the coming days to delve deeper into the discussion.
Glasner, however, is not the only front on which Cardinale and Ibrahimovic are working. The casting call for the coach role continues, and just like the ex-Palace boss, the other coaches in the running will also be evaluated and interviewed.
Mauricio Pochettino is another name in the running. The United States coach has not denied having had contact with the Rossoneri through his agents, despite the USA trying to convince him to extend the relationship beyond the end of the World Cup.
Contacts are also expected with Matthias Jaissle, who like Glasner is linked to the idea of Ralf Rangnick as the new head of Milan’s sporting area. To hire him it would be necessary to negotiate with Al-Ahli. Then there is the Arne Slot idea, which emerged after the Dutchman’s split with Liverpool.

I have a genuine question from someone who is not up to date with the Premier League other than occasionally looking into their the top 4 race.
What is special about Glasner? his win ratio is not very impressive, 12th and 15th place in premier league in his seasons in Premier League is also not impressive, am I missing something?
He’s been quite streaky in form, so the end of the previous season and the start of this one were very strong. 2024 and 25 were both record points finishes for Crystal Palace though.
He’s also won trophies, both domestic and in Europe, at the same time as keeping the team competitive in the league and out of any risk. Going deep and prioritising those competitions has also been a reason for some of the league form dropping.
Also, Crystal Palace have sold many of the key players he’s worked with. Eze, Guehi, Olise were absolute stars of that team and he was able to keep the club on track despite this. Although that was a key reason for him leaving too, so remains to be seen how he’ll deal with something similar happening here.
Spot on. And he beat Guardiola and Man City in that FA Cup final.
Crystal Palace had literally ZERO trophies in their 120+ year history pre-Glasner. He won three in the last two years. So basically his entire brief was just to stay in the Premier League and not get relegated. Trophies were strictly gravy. Also won Europa League with Eintract Frankfurt.
Clearly has an eye for good young talent given the big clubs that raided Palace lately – City, Arsenal, Bayern, etc. Maybe he can bring Mateta too.
There are a couple of concerns for me.
1. He quit Palace due to them selling their best players. We will have to do that going forward for the next few years too (no judgement, that’s just the reality of where we’re at).
2. He has a good record against the big clubs but struggled more against the ones around the mid table playing a low block. Similar issue to what we had last year, although I expect we’ll have quite different players next season.
Remember Milan is no longer a big club and Italy is a very much a farmers league
Glasner is a winner, you need to study his style of play, he delivered three trophies at Palace who had previously won none, his final positions in the premier league is not impressive but considering the squad and never been in danger of relegation Glazner decided to prioritise cup competition gain silverware.
