AC Milan have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Hector Fort, despite rumours he was set to join Real Mallorca.

Milan were expected to sign a right-back after Alex Jimenez’s move to AFC Bournemouth was made official earlier on deadline day. In particular, two LaLiga profiles were linked, but as we approach the end of the window very little is moving.

Fort a target

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Tribuna), Barcelona’s Hector Fort is someone that Milan are keeping an eye on. The 19-year-old defender was expected to join Mallorca on loan today, given he is not park of Hansi Flick’s immediate plans, but things could fall through.

Fort did not feature for Barca Atletic (their second team) in their friendly against L’Hospitalet over the weekend, which seemed to suggest that an exit was close amid talk that he was heading to join Mallorca.

However, that was dependent on Pablo Maffeo’s transfer to Atletico Mineiro, which is yet to go through, so things are currently stuck for the time being.

The report adds that Milan have also shown interest in Fort as a potential replacement for Jimenez, though it seems like it will be a race against time to get it done before the 20:00 CEST deadline.

  1. Bayer just sent Boniface to Werder on loan. They were desperate to get rid of him. Whatever his physical issues are, it’s not good.
    Milan dodged one here.

    1. How did he pass a medical with Bremen though? Or did they just not care? And yes, I was hoping he would have joined us and was fine, but I was wrong on that one.
