Milan target plays down recent transfer rumours: “Why should I leave?”

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are looking for a full-back this summer as Fode Ballo-Toure is expected to leave the club. Salernitana’s Pasquale Mazzocchi could be the perfect solution, but he has played down the transfer rumours.

Mazzocchi primarily plays as a right-back, given that he’s right-footed, but he can also play on the left and this could be perfect for Milan. Since Theo Hernandez plays most games anyway, the 27-year-old could alternate between both flanks. ‘

Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it) reported last month that Mazzocchi was brought up during Milan’s discussions with Salernitana over Yacine Adli. Corriere Dello Sport also confirmed the interest couple of days ago, saying he’s one of the top targets.

Speaking to Corriere Dello Spot (via MilanNews), Mazzocchi was asked about all of the rumours and he certainly played them down. Being the captain of Salernitana, who are set to stay in the top tier next season, he’s happy where he is.

“I have a contract until 2026, I’m the captain, I feel loved by the squad and I’m happy. So why should I leave? Sure, seeing my name linked with important clubs means that I’ve worked well. But when you wear the captain’s armband, you are inevitably at the centre of the project, you have responsibilities,” he stated.
