Milan target Scamacca heaps praise on Ibrahimovic amid rumours: “He’s an icon”

Milan are looking for a striker on the market as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to play his last season next term. And since he can’t play every game from start to finish, a reinforcement is needed already in the summer.

One of the players that have been linked with the Rossoneri is Gianluca Scamacca, who currently is on loan at Genoa from Sassuolo. The 22-year-old has displayed some impressive qualities this season and has attracted the interest of several big clubs.

He hasn’t been able to play as a regular starter, but in 21 appearances he has scored five goals and assisted an additional two. Against Milan, he nearly scored a bicycle kick. Speaking to SportWeek (via Calciomercato), he praised Ibrahimovic.

“A young player must play as much as possible, stealing the secrets. Then, however, it’s clear that if you are the backup of a champion who cannot play all of the games at 39, it’s a different story. Ibrahimovic is an icon for me. Seeing him do certain things at his age, perhaps with more determination than before, fascinates and stimulates me a lot.

“In the Netherlands, I hit the ball with the heel and they asked me ‘Do you want to be Ibra?’. But I have always done them, you learn it on the streets. What would I want of Ibra? The bank account. Jokes aside: the swagger,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if Milan will proceed with their interest, which you can read more about here, or if they will opt for someone else. Either way, it’s clear that they are looking for a striker on the market.
