Bianchin: Milan are third place for Conte at the moment – the other hypotheses

AC Milan may look to Antonio Conte this summer as the man to lead the new project forward, however, it seems they may not be granted the choice.

The past few weeks have thrown up several names for the Milan job, though Massimiliano Allegri and Cesc Fabregas have been the only two to stick. Even then, though, there are questions about the legitimacy and feasibility of both.

Starting with the Italian, a lot has been said about Allegri’s future, but words from his former mentor in the past few days have brought some doubt into the equation, especially with suggestions that there have been no contacts yet.

Then, with Fabregas, the picture is quite similar. Giorgio Furlani prefers the Spaniard, but there may be more obstacles in the way of the process, especially considering the former midfielder’s tangible ties to his current club.

Today, speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, Luca Bianchin shed some light on the situation, and Milan News have relayed his words.

Conte for AC Milan? We have to wait, much will depend on the choice of the sporting director. The Allegri and Fabregas suggestions have gathered more consensus so far, but as of today, they are only hypotheses.

“Without DS, the new coach cannot be chosen. The name of Allegri fascinates the Milan fans, then we know what happened between Conte and Milan last season. To date, I see the former Chelsea more between Napoli and Juventus, but in football, never say never.”

  1. Conte should have been Milan’s first choice before hiring Fonseca. Now is a different story.

Our first choice should be Gasperini. On the other hand we should monitor Maresca’s situation at Chelsea and have him as second choice.

    1. It’s going to be an interesting coaching merry-go-round this summer for sure. Gasperini could himself end up at Juventus, a club he has ties with since he came up through their youth system and is from Torino. Juventus’s squad is also well set up for Gasperini’s system. This would leave the door open for us with Conte. A Conte return to Juventus would in turn leave the door open for Gasperini to Milan, but our squad not very well set up for Gasperini. Also, don’t sleep on Tudor making it at Juve. He’s an underrated coach and has a lot of history with Juventus. Roma is in mix too, for a coach.

I’d love to see what Farioli could do, but I think he’ll stay put and defend his title and coach in the CL. Maresca is also interesting, but I also think he will stay put. We missed our chance in 2024. De Zerbi maybe.

Here is my prediction for Serie A top 9 team 2025-26 coaching changes/confirmations:

      Atalanta: Mancini*
      Bologna: Italiano
      Fiorentina: Sarri***
      Inter: S. Inzaghi
      Juventus: Tudor**
      Lazio: Baroni
      Milan: Allegri
      Napoli: Conte
      Roma: Gasperini**

At first I thought I’d just leave a question mark for Atalanta, but Mancini could be an interesting option for them. They have a good squad if the can keep their stars after Gasperini leaves, and he brings a lot of experience and will Atalanta have CL football to entice him.

**If Tudor doesn’t earn an extension, then I can see Gasperini going there, and Roma needing to find someone else.

***In the event Gasp does not end up at Roma, and Palladino survives at Fio, Roma is also a good option for Sarri. I don’t think his link to Lazio is strong enough to preclude this. He could also be a good option for Atalanta in lieu of Mancini.

I think if all these coaches were in the league next season that it could only be good for Serie A, regardless of how some people feel about some of them.

      1. I dont know why Viola fans/management don’t like Palladino? Granted I don’t watch them much, so no idea about the gameplay/style; but to make a scorer out of Moise Kean deserves some kind of love at the very least, no?

        1. Kean under Palladino is massive , for me Palladino can be interesting coach in future , and for now for him is the best to stay in club like Fiorentina , or maybe AS Roma. He is not prepare to coach big clubs with big players…

    1. If we don’t qualify for UCL, it’s better to press d reset button… Farioli or RDZerbi… I think Conte is too volatile, Allegri too colloquial

  2. Allegri fascinates Milan fans? Maybe the idea of Allegri coaching Milan fascinates Inter and Juventus fans.
