Milan to sacrifice Romagnoli to Atletico Madrid in €50m deal and sign Upamecano – report

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessio Romagnoli is heading for Atletico Madrid and will agree a deal to join them from AC Milan next week, it is claimed.

DonBalon (as cited by Calciomercato.it) report how  despite all the speculation in the Italian media regarding talks over extending his Milan deal, Romagnoli will formalise a move to Atletico Madrid ‘next week’.

He arrived at the club five years ago after the Rossoneri paid €25million to sign him from Roma, and on Wednesday he made his 150th Serie A appearance for the club.

Atletico know Stefan Savi will leave this summer and that is why they have set their sights on Romagnoli to replace the Montenegrin.

The operation is progressing through Andrea Berta, as the director of Los Rojiblancos knows Milan’s management well and this has facilitated the talks. Milan have given the green light to the sale for €50m as they want to sign two new centre-backs this summer, with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano one of them.

Barcelona also closely followed Romagnoli but have ultimately waited too long to make an offer.

  1. Not really a credible rumour because we will have to pay 1/3 of the fee that exceeds the 25 mil we paid Roma so if we sell for 50 mil we will only earn around 41.6 mil.

  2. If we are going to sell our captain and leader in Romagnoli, i will lose all my confidence in this storied club!

    1. Not gonna happen and as i said we would only get 41.6 mil from such sale and i should propably have rephrased myself because infact we would only earn 16.6 mil on top of the 25 we paid to roma. Does that really sound like a deal we would even consider ? No way !!!
