GdS: Milan growing in optimism that Tomori will return for the derby against Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

There is optimism that Fikayo Tomori will recover from his knee surgery in time to face Inter in the Derby della Madonnina, according to a report.

The English defender sustained an injury in the game between Milan and Genoa earlier this week. He initially played on BUT was forced to leave the pitch shortly after due to knee discomfort, and he then underwent minor surgery on his knee to repair a meniscal problem.

Head coach Stefano Pioli claimed after the draw against Juventus that Tomori is unlikely to make the derby against Inter after the break, but this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that there are good feelings filtering regarding Tomori ahead of the game after the international break.

His rehabilitation is proceeding smoothly and being able to return in time for the big match against Inter would be yet another speed test for the former Chelsea. The Milan staff are beginning to think that it is a target that is achievable.

  1. We force players to get fit rapidly and hope for miracles instead of buying a CB! We look like a serie C team with this poor mans mentality!

  2. Too soon. It would be a tragedy if he came on and within 15 min fully tore his meniscus, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
