MN: Milan top despite being the victim of numerous officiating errors – the message

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan currently sit top of the Serie A table and it is despite the numerous refereeing errors that could have derailed their season, a report claims.

MilanNews recalls how the Rossoneri should have had three points against Udinese but Udogie’s handball in their equalising goal was not spotted despite the VAR chief taking a look at the incident. Then there is the offside call on Olivier Giroud after Franck Kessie equalised against Napoli which still baffles, and Inter benefitted from a non-call after Belotti was clearly fouled inside the box.

There is an absence of leadership, accountability and also quality in how games are refereed in Italy now, the report adds, and Milan are still first in the standings despite the fact they have been heavily penalised by the referees’ decisions this season.

Given the apparently inability of the referees to take on obvious responsibilities, it is obvious that in order to win the Scudetto the Rossoneri must remain strong and must take the ability to determine the outcome of the game out of their hands.

  1. Articles like this are very unfair and one sided IMO, they’re just there to rile up supporters. You get lucky with some calls, unlucky with others, they don’t necessarily balance out 100% as per the old adage, but that’s the nature of the game. Milan are top because they’ve played well, but if they don’t win the league it won’t be because of refereeing decisions.
