Milan travel to face Bologna with nine players out due to injury or Covid

AC Milan’s selection crisis shows no signs of easing up as Stefano Pioli will have to do without nine players for tomorrow’s game against Bologna.

There were a number of known absences going into the game including goalkeepers Mike Maignan and Alessandro Plizzari, who are both expected to miss another couple of months after undergoing surgery on their respective wrist and shoulder problems.

Theo Hernandez and Brahim Diaz missed the Hellas Verona and Porto games after testing positive for Covid-19 and they are still testing positive so won’t make the trip to face Bologna. Then, Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Messias should be out for a couple more weeks with knee and muscle problems respectively.

During his pre-match press conference, Pioli confirmed that Franck Kessiè will not be available either given he is suffering from a strong flu, while Ante Rebic’s ankle is still hurting and striker Pietro Pellegri has some inflammation that means he won’t be called up either.
