CM: Milan tried for Atalanta star Malinovskyi during the summer – the background

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan tried to sign Atalanta playmaker Ruslan Malinovskyi during the summer transfer window but their attempts were rebuffed, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Malinovskyi was a target for Milan during the summer and he is experiencing another great season with his 7 goals and 3 assists in all competitions. At the age of 28, the Ukrainian international seems to have hit consistency, and Inter are admirers of him even though there has been no real negotiation and he would struggle to fit into a 3-5-2.

Milan also had a thought about Malinovskyi being the ideal No.10 for the post-Calhanoglu era but the Bergamo club did not consider selling him to a direct competitor for a place in the Champions League, and he could soon renew his contract expiring in 2023.

The goal he scored against Juventus last night was a screamer and given that Brahim Diaz’s form has been up and down this season, the Rossoneri might regret not trying a bit harder to land him.
